Introduction to Ballet Foot Positions 🩰

Let's learn about ballet foot positions.🎓

Ballet is a classical dance form known for its grace, precision, and discipline. One of the most important foundations of ballet technique is the five basic foot positions. These positions guide how dancers stand, move, and transition between steps.These positions are the foundation of almost every ballet movement. 🩰

First position: Put your heels together and position your toes outwards.

Second position: Point your feet in opposite directions with a twelve inches ( one foot) gap between your two heels.

Third position: Place one foot in front of the other so that the heel of the front foot is close to the arch.

Fourth position: There are two types this position: open and closed. Place one foot about twelve inches (one foot) in front of the other. Open means that your heels are aligned, while closed means that the heel of your front foot lines up with the toes of your back foot.

Fifth position: Form two parallel lines with your feet. The heel of your front foot touching the big toe of the other and the heel of your back foot touching the last toe of your foot.

These five positions are a core part of classical ballet training, often associated with the teaching system of Pierre Beauchamp, who helped standardize them in the 17th century during the time of Louis XIV.

There is one position of thee foot called ,parallel or 6th position, which we will talk about in our next "Derby Academy Ballet Classroom".🩰📔✏️
