This weekend sees the final Junior Saloon Car Championship race weekend for 2021. Just feels like weeks since I had my first race in April at Caldwell Park.

We’re returning to Brands Hatch Circuit for the family favourite finale also featuring the truck racing and finishing off the weekend with an incredible firework display. I remember Mum and Dad taking me to see this when I was about 10. Now I'm lucky enough to be racing here myself.

British Automobile Racing Club YouTube will be running live streaming so the races of the weekend can be watched. See the attached schedule for times.

I want to finish remembering Robert Foote.

This will be an emotional return as not only is it the last time we all meet up this year, it is also a reminder of the last time we were at this track we lost one of our Robert Foote, volunteer marshal in a tragic accident a short time before our qualifying round at the end of July.

As those fireworks go up, you will not be forgotten. 🧡

After a year of learning, confidence building and improvement, it’s race week for the final time…

Brands this weekend is expected to be a sellout event, with around 30,000 spectators expected to be attending 😧

Let’s see if we can put on a show 😉

This is something that’s been in the works for a few months now, and here it is 😍

Tom very kindly offered to paint my car, and i’m so glad to finally show you guys 🤩

I got in touch with Tom after seeing his amazing Monaco F1 painting which he, once again, very kindly sent me a print of. It was great to finally meet him in person after Covid.

Many thanks to Tom once again, this will be a great memory of my time in the when I unfortunately will be too old to do another season after this next one upcoming.

Great weekend at Donington.

Valuable knowledge gained on Friday practice, and a lot of time dropped from my laps throughout.

This was all put into practice on Saturday for qualifying, however (as stated in a previous post) I struggled to string a couple of decent laps together due to the length of the track and some track time lost due to red flags. This put me in 16th for race 1 and 15th for race 2.

Race 1 - I was talking this race cautiously, due to the poor weather conditions and due to the fact I wanted to keep my car intact for race two. I knew that if I just kept my car clean and stay out of trouble I’d be able to make up a few positions due to cars going off in the wet. I only made it up to 13th, a little bit disappointing considering I could have pushed a little harder to stay with the cars in front.

Race 2 - With more rain due, I went out with my tyre pressures set somewhere between a wet setup and a dry setup due to the unpredictable conditions that lay ahead in the race. Due to this setup, I was a little off the pace throughout the race, but still got up to 9th, assisted by about 5-6 cars going off at turn 1, and once again I kept out of trouble.

Fairly successful weekend overall, and im excited for next weekend at Brands for the finale round

Not the qualifying I hoped for. I had decent pace, but struggled to string it all together. Due to it being a 20 minute session and lap times are around 2 minutes long, once yellow flags come out it’s hard to get clear laps. I only put in two decent laps out of the 5 in total putting me in P16 and 15 for the races tomorrow respectively. I’ve got some work to do to get to where I want to finish!

What. A. Weekend.
In the second session of Friday testing, I overestimated how quickly I could take the final corner on cold tyres, after following my teammate (on warmer tyres) for half a lap. This resulted in the rear end unexpectedly sliding. In an attempt to save the car on the fastest corner on the track, I overcorrected and ended up spinning across the wet grass and having a rather heavy shunt into the tyres. It was totally my fault, and I think the crash being my fault was the thing that annoyed me the most.
Thankfully had a spare car after a teammate had left the JSCC. After my first session in the car, and starting to regain my confidence, especially around the last corner where i’d gone off earlier in the day. I quickly discovered that the way this car handled and the way it felt whilst driving it suited my driving much more than the previous car did.

Due to Pembrey being a triple header, Saturday was qualifying and race one. Qualifying was great, and was definitely my best qualifying not only in terms of result, but mentally too. I qualified 9th, with some very experienced drivers ahead of me. My start was not great in the race, and I dropped down to 13th on the first lap. I managed to fight my way back through the pack to finish 7th, my best result yet. 2nd in the rookies.

Sunday was another good day, after feeling fresh from the comeback the day before, felt confident going into to the two races on Sunday. Race one was very good, a much better start and I was having some very close racing until I was at the receiving end of someone else’s mistake, unfortunately forcing me into the car beside me. This has changed the toe angle of my car, meaning I did not finish the race.
Race three was much better. I had an ok start and was involved in a couple of close battles and ended up catching up to two pairs battling and becoming a close train of 5 cars. I finished the race in 8th, 3rd in the rookies.

Results overall:
Qualifying: 9th, 12th and 10th (first, second and third fastest lap)
Race 1: 7th overall, 2nd Rookie
Race 2: DNF
Race 3: 8th overall, 3rd rookie
