Swim England have now updated their guidance following the recent introductions of the local COVID alert levels.
The guidance states that all aquatic clubs operating in a Medium (tier 1) Local COVID Alert Area remain unaffected by the latest Government announcements and should continue to operate as previously, following the Swim England Returning to the Pools Guidance for Clubs closely and ensuring social distancing is maintained as outlined in the guidance.
Repton Swimming Pool is in the South Derbyshire District so currently falls into Medium (Tier 1) of the government local COVID alert levels and therefore we will continue to run our sessions following these rules until further notice.
Please note, if you currently live in an area that falls into a High (tier 2) or Very High (tier 3) local COVID alert levels, then you should follow the Government guidance, which is currently advising people not to travel to and from the higher tier areas unless it is an essential journey.
The current situation is rapidly changing and it should be noted that if South Derbyshire moves into High (Tier 2) this will impact our ability to continue with water polo training in the current format. The SDWP committee are currently reviewing the implications of a possible change to the current Tier level for South Derbyshire.
Swim England Guidance confirms that in Very High (tier 3) Local Alert Areas, there is the scope for areas to close leisure facilities including pools. In a High (tier 2) or Very High (tier 3) Local COVID Alert Area (where pools remain open), the guidance released by Government does not change the activity that can be undertaken by swimming and diving clubs as individual sports. These clubs should follow the Swim England Returning to the Pools Guidance for Clubs.
For water polo and clubs in a High (tier 2) or Very High (tier 3) Local COVID Alert Area, competitive activity can continue for under 18-year-olds as per the Swim England Water Polo Return to Team Sport guidance. Similarly, artistic swimming activity can continue for under 18-year-olds.
Over 18-year-olds in High (tier 2) and Very High (tier 3) areas can only take part in Water Polo or artistic swimming with other people from the same household or support bubble. Over-18s playing sport for educational purposes, including curriculum and playing for a college or university team are exempt.

Swim England committed to getting water polo players back in action Detailed plans are currently being drawn up by Swim England to ensure water polo players can return to action as soon as possible.
We can smell the Chlorine!...... We have just had formal communication from Repton Swimming Pool giving us the green light to start Water Polo training sessions.
We are hoping to get back in the pool next week, starting on Monday 3rd of August. The session times will be slightly different to our normal training sessions, Mondays training session will be 7.45pm -8.45pm and Wednesday 8.45pm-9.45pm.
As previously these will be senior sessions only. We are still liaising with Etwall Swimming Pool to establish when the Junior sessions can start again, watch this space.
As you would expect the things will be different, both the rules around pool usage and also how our training sessions are structured. In particular we need to manage the numbers of participants in each session, with the maximum number of 20 at each session. We will require everyone attending the sessions to confirm that the understand the rules put in place to keep us all safe and also confirm their current health status via a questionnaire. We will also need members to indicate what sessions they are available/wish to attend in August. We will try our best to accommodate everyone, however due to our maximum participant number of 20 there may be some limitations to sessions.
Further details will follow over the next few days, both on face book and via email for club members, if you want to participate in training sessions you will need to follow the requirements set out in these communations.
If you cancelled your standing order for our club fees whilst we were unable to train, please ensure that you have reinstated the standing order before attending your first training session.
Please note, the training sessions and pool opening is still subject to change and may change after August.
Looking forward to seeing who can still catch a ball !!
