Great start to the season from the 1st & 2XI,

1st team picking up right where they left off last year with a dominant all-round performance against Alrewas.

2nd team getting a well deserved win with Captain marvellous, Mr Amir leading from the front with sold 79 and ensuring his team got home comfortably.

1st team Dabang skipper, Mr Shahshad Ali, after losing the toss and being put into bat, the skipper’s vision was clear—set the standard early and show exactly what we’re about after last year’s league-winning campaign. 

The highlight with the bat was a brilliant knock from Sarmad Ali, who anchored the innings with a composed 85, striking at 100 with 6 fours and 6 sixes, putting the opposition under pressure from the outset.
In reply, Alrewas CC were outclassed by a disciplined and clinical bowling display, being bowled out for 150 in 35.3 overs. Amarjit Singh was outstanding with the ball, delivering a match-winning spell of 6 wickets for just 30 runs in 8.3 overs, maintaining excellent control and an economy of 3.53 to dismantle their batting lineup. The rest of the bowling unit backed him up superbly, keeping things tight and building pressure throughout.
A complete team performance to secure a convincing 22-point win and a perfect start to the campaign. Special mentions to our standout performers Sarmad Ali and Amarjit Singh for their match-defining contributions.

On a sad note… In Loving Memory of
John Brown (1937 – 2026)
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our long-time scorer, John Brown.

Before the start of our first game, a one-minute silence will be observed as a mark of respect.

John served many years as a dedicated scorer for clubs across the league, including Derbyshire County Club.
His contribution to the Derbyshire County League will always be remembered.

John was a regular scorer at Derby Congs Cc and on behalf of everyone at Derby Congs Cc we are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of John.

Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with Johns Family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.

Greta man and a gentleman, will miss his weekend banter. RIP John

Derbyshire County Cricket League Division 3 Champions 🏆

The last day of the 2024 league season began with intrigue high, and three teams – Derby Congs, Lullington CC and Trentside, all believing they could win the title. And the captivation continued throughout the entire wet afternoon as each of the three teams spent time at the top of the Division 3 Table.

Due to extreme wet weather and lightening all the games top of the table got abandoned and Derby Congs, who were leading the table were crowed champions.
