If you're booked onto the Midland Canoe Club Taster Session on Thursday 11th June 2026 at 18:30, please read the following update.

Due to emergency works on Darley Abbey Bridge, vehicular access is restricted therefore please park on South Avenue and walk the short 150m to the club.

If using SATNAV, please avoid Haslams Lane, as it will take you to the wrong side of the river. We are located close to Duffield Road (near St Benedict’s Catholic School).

As per the booking details, please arrive 20–30 minutes before the session to allow time for check‑in and getting ready so we can start promptly.

We have another taster sessions planned for this month in the pool at Moorways Sports Village, Derby.

If you’re keen to find out a bit more about kayaking and the club then this is the ideal opportunity.

Come on in out of the cold dark wet nights and have an enjoyable session in a warm safe environment.

You’ll be looked after by super friendly and knowledgeable club coaches who’ll take you through some basic skills to get you started on your kayaking journey.

The next session is on Wednesday 25th of February from 6:30 to 8pm

TASTER SESSIONS

With the colder and darker months upon us we’re now using Moorways Waterpark for our taster sessions.

We have a few in the diary already and here are the dates:-
Wednesday 5th November
Wednesday 3rd December
Wednesday 7th January

If you’ve never tried it before this is a great way to come and find out a bit more about kayaking. Or if you’ve done it when you were younger and want to get back into it, then this again is ideal.

Come and meet our super friendly coaches who will look after you and guide you through the evening in a warm safe environment.
