Last night, Doug was recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Derby Voluntary Sector Awards, celebrating an incredible 48 years of volunteering.

Doug has been at the heart of Derby Phoenix Swimming Club for decades, dedicating countless hours to supporting swimmers, coaches, volunteers and families. His contribution extends far beyond our club, having played a significant role in the development of swimming across Derbyshire and the UK over many years.

This award is thoroughly deserved and recognises the lasting impact Doug has made on generations of swimmers and the wider community.

Thank you, Doug, for everything you have done and continue to do. Your commitment, passion and dedication are an inspiration to us all.

In the 3rd and final round of the Arena League, the team smashed it with an incredible performance, taking 2nd place on the night and finishing just 3 points behind the leaders!

A fantastic 22x25 cannon at the end with all swimmers and 4 coaches taking part. 💚 💛

Get ready — this Saturday we’re hosting our biggest Club Championships in years! With 84 swimmers across 4 teams, it’s set to be an incredible day of racing, energy, and club spirit. 🔥

We’ll be finishing the event with an exciting 22×25 cannon relay, and yes… our coaching team will be getting in the water and joining the swimmers! 💥

Come along, support the teams, cheer loudly, and help make this one of the most memorable Club Champs yet!

Family affair at the 2nd Round of the Arena League this afternoon!

Coaches James and Becca took to the pool alongside two of their children, Jack and Louisa, making it a real family effort.

Our team travelled to Rugby and swam brilliantly in lane 1, holding our own against some really strong competition (and a few harsh DQ calls!).

Our goal was simple — don’t finish last — and we achieved it by a single point! 💪👏

Well done to everyone who swam, supported, and cheered us on today.
