🥋 HAPPY 8TH BIRTHDAY, NORFOLK TSD! 🎉

Today marks 8 years since our very first official class on 5th September 2018!

Our story, however, started a little earlier.
Tang Soo Do was first brought to Norfolk around 2010/2011 by Master Salter and Salter’s Family Karate, laying the foundations for Tang Soo Do in our local area.

In August 2018, I took over and launched Norfolk Tang Soo Do, with our first official class taking place after the school summer holidays on 5th September 2018.

Eight years later, we've seen students walk through the doors as complete beginners, progress through the ranks, achieve black belts, become instructors and help shape the Academy into what it is today.

We've changed venues, evolved our training and continued to grow — but the goal has always remained the same:
Respect the past. Develop the present. Build the future.

A massive thank you to every student, parent, family member, instructor and supporter who has been part of Norfolk TSD over the last eight years — whether you've been with us from the beginning or joined us along the way.

🏆 A PROUD MOMENT FOR NORFOLK TSD MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY! 🏆
We’re incredibly proud to share that Norfolk TSD Martial Arts Academy has achieved BMABA Club Colours certification and has officially been granted SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE status! 🥋

Alongside this, we have also achieved the BMABA Regulation Ready GOLD Standard for outstanding governance and best practice.

These awards aren’t simply about the martial arts we teach. They recognise the work that happens behind the scenes to make sure our academy is safe, responsible, transparent and professionally managed.

The Club Colours award represents one of BMABA’s highest levels of proactive safeguarding and organisational vetting, with our instructors, assistant instructors and volunteers undergoing rigorous verification processes.

🥋Always a pleasure watching my older siblings working together.🥋 in tonight's class we have been looking at the applications of the Pyung Ahn forms.
Then we moved onto exploring the similarities between Judo and Tang Soo Do in relation to analysing form applications.
Its interesting seeing how closely related individual styles really are. Different techniques but the same principles, move off the centre line, destrupt opponents posture to control, restrain or finish them. 🥋

🥋 in to out block - middle punch from basic form 3, exploring functionality 🥋 with smaller classes over the summer period its nice to step back and experiment with ideas 🥋
