My hat goes off to anyone who does triathlons and Ironmans after a 30 minute ride I really felt how hard the run can be.

I started a 10 minute run at 10:17/mile, but i decided to push for a sub 8:00 min/mile.

Two minutes in my legs felt heavy; by five minutes I barely felt like I was moving at all.

Effort matched a recent parkrun, but pace was about 25 seconds slower. First bike-to-run session done curious to see the progress next time.

Second bike session in many years yesterday — a 30-minute local spin as I relearn the ropes.

Tried a track session last night for the first time since 2015 loved it.

Great to be back in a group doing drills and running around a track.
It was nice to see some times on my watch i had not seen since about 2017 even if it was only for 100 or 400m!

Also i bumped into a couple of people i had not seen in years.

We did 400m & 100m reps with 3-minute recoveries (session was longer than the 20 mins I timed).

Excited to see where this takes me!

4.Mental Health: Running releases endorphins, which can boost mood, reduce stress, and alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression.

5.Bone Health: Weight-bearing exercise like running helps strengthen bones, reducing the risk of osteoporosis.

6.Enhanced Lung Function: Running can improve lung capacity and efficiency, leading to better oxygen supply to the body.

7.Increased Metabolism: Running can elevate metabolism, aiding in weight management and overall energy expenditure.

8.Better Sleep: Regular physical activity, including running, can improve sleep quality and help with insomnia.

10.Social Interaction: Participating in group runs or races can provide a sense of community and social interaction.

11.Increased Confidence: Achieving running goals and milestones can boost self-esteem and self-confidence.

Remember that individual experiences can vary, and it's important to approach running safely and gradually to avoid injuries. Consult with a healthcare professional before starting a new exercise regimen, especially if you have any underlying health conditions.

Time for a reset.

Honest one for you my running and general training has completely stalled for the last 4 weeks. If I’m really honest, I’ve been switched off since April.

It happens.

Life gets busy, motivation dips, and before you know it “a week off” turns into months.

No shame in it the only thing that matters is what you do next(I used to get very annoyed and frustrated but no point wasting energy).

So this week is about getting back to it.

I’m running two tests:
🏃 A running test, to see where my fitness actually sits
🚴 A cycling test on my new bike — first time on two wheels in 16 months, so this one’s a proper shock to the system.

Whatever the numbers say, they’re just a starting point. From here it’s about building back up, setting some new goals, and maybe trying something I haven’t before.

If you’ve had your own “switched off since April” moment — this is your sign too.

Let’s go again.

Parkrun #2 in the books this year.

Off the back of a 7-day all-inclusive and a couple of iffy weeks of training, I honestly wasn’t expecting much this morning. Add in a few beers and whisky last night celebrating turning 50 on Tuesday, “sub 25” was not the plan 😂
Many thank to .23 for keeping me company on the last 2.5km.

But somehow it happened. Sub 25 minutes. No idea how, but I’ll take it.

Had the day off from the gym today too, which doesn’t happen often. I genuinely love teaching my class — brilliant group of people and always a great session.

But if I’m honest, I miss parkrun so, so much. That Saturday morning buzz and the running community, there’s nothing else quite like it.
