1st XI Make It Count with a 117-Run Victory 🏏

Fishlake 1st XI produced a brilliant all-round performance against Whiston Parish Church CC, securing an emphatic 117-run victory and another important win.

Winning the toss, Fishlake elected to bat with Jacob Meehan and Richard Copley opening the innings. The pair got the Lakers off to a 67 run opening partnership before the first wicket finally fell.

Jacob continued his fantastic form with the bat, holding the innings together and occupying the crease for 38 overs on his way to a superb 109.

Further valuable runs from Charlie Metcalfe and Will Metcalfe helped Fishlake finish their innings on a strong 243/7.

After teas, it was Whiston’s turn to bat — and Fishlake knew it was time to turn up the heat.

The Lakers delivered with the ball and in the field, putting Whiston under pressure and taking wickets regularly. Freddie Stevens, James Yeaman and Keith Bee all got amongst the wickets, while Richard Copley capped off an excellent all-round performance with a three-wicket haul.

Whiston were eventually bowled out for 126, sealing a convincing 117-run victory for Fishlake!

Another fantastic team effort from all the lads when it mattered. 👏

A special mention has to go to Vice Captain Jacob Meehan for an outstanding innings of 109 — becoming the 11th Fishlake player to score a century within the play cricket era and recording the club’s first century of the 2026 season. What an innings! 💯🔥

Fabulous day for the Sylvester Open Triples Bowls Event. A close contest found Neil Dennison, Maureen Theobald and Keith Forward taking the Trophy, narrowly beating runners up, Jim Butterley, Carole Smith and John Waddington. Big thank you to all who contributed to making this a great day !
