This was my final session with Dan at Longside Lake | Open Water Swimming we started in April in the pool. He started as a non swimmer concerned with putting his face in the water. The rather ambitious goal was the Swim Serpentine 2 mile event in September!😮. So we progressed from head up breaststroke, to head in breaststroke, then some crawl. Distance wise we started with half a length, then a full length and in a few weeks built a continuous swim up, first to 8 minutes and beyond., . 5 months later we’ve added lake swims, wetsuits, sighting, gliding and all sorts of drills along the way, Longest swim now is 2.4 km and he is pretty much set for his challenge 👍👍 . Amazing hard work from Dan, his goal drove him on and plenty of practice. Good luck later this month.

Surrey & Borders - The only NHS Trust in the country to supplement their Children and Young Persons Mental Health services with a Wild Swim Project 👏👏! It’s funded privately and the results are astonishing. As an additional element to help young people manage their mental health it works wonders. And now with 10% of young people nationally getting referred to the local health authority with significant mental health challenges we need to do something differently and this is a great initiative. Thank you to The Aqua Sports Company | Making Waves Since ‘93 for their help and cooperation in hosting us at their lively venue.

The last session this week for our adults course, part of the OUTSIDE2 research project run by University of Portsmouth 8 weeks flies by when you’re having so much fun. We can’t prejudge the actual clinical results, however…. Participants report improved mental health, resilience, better sleep, enjoying the physically activity and leaving the weekly session smiling and feeling calmer ❤️. Great outcomes!
