A big week ahead at Royal Dornoch!
The R&A Men’s and Women’s Senior Amateur being held on both of our fantastic links, the Championship and Struie Course. The first time both competitions have been held at the same venue and same time!
Both courses looking incredible as we ease our way into what will be a very competitive event with elite golfers from around the globe competing for the 2 prestigious titles 🏆

Pleasure to have one of the big three with us yesterday!⛳️
Gary Player was a true gent during his visit taking time to speak to our members and staff, having lunch in the clubhouse and even gave Andrew Skinner’s father and former Head Professional Willie Skinner a special treat by giving him a phone call after his round 🙌🏻
At 85 years old he is still solid as a rock and managed to score +1 par round our Championship Course 🏌🏻can only pray to be that good at that age 🤣

Ever wondered what the story behind our logo was?🤷🏻♂️
The animal in the middle of the shield is the Sutherland wildcat. Culturally, the Scottish wildcat is an icon of Scottish wilderness and has been used in clan heraldry since the 13th century. The Earls of Sutherland use the wildcat as their crest and was then authorised to be used for the golf club’s coat-of-arms.
The horseshoe that the wildcat holds however has an interesting story relating to the Battle of Embo, which I’m sure many of you will have heard from our caddies upon your visit to Royal Dornoch.
Recent evidence places the battle in the 1260s, where vikings had landed in Scotland for centuries. The battle took place after a party of Danes landed at Little Ferry and encamped near Embo. The Earl of Sutherland asked Richard de Moravia (brother of the bishop of Caithness) to engage the Danes and hold them in check until he assembled a strong enough force to come to Richard’s aid. The plan worked, and the Danes were routed on the arrival of the Earl. During the battle Richard was killed and Earl William reputedly slew the Danish leader with the leg of a horse, an incident that accounts for the horseshoe on Dornoch’s present coat-of-arms.
The Scottish wildcat is now a very rare species and therefore Royal Dornoch donates to the preservation of this animal through varies schemes, including the member only Wildcat clothing range.

Surrounded by his secret service agents, president Clinton visited us around the late 90s early 00s. During his visit he was even kind enough to help our junior section out by presenting prizes to them after his round 🙌🏻

Well after 57 holes, they are finished ✅
Today was just a little celebratory throwback to the longest day challenge where Bradley and Calum managed 129 holes in June.
Starting at 8:30am this morning, the guys managed to play until 15:30pm this afternoon 🏌🏻🏌🏻
Weather was fantastic today which helped the occasion 🌞 but I think after 57 holes today both Calum and Brad would agree that the performance back in June was a huge achievement 🤣 some tired legs!
Thanks to everyone who followed on social media today and to those who watched the lads today ⛳️
