We've done something amazing today!

We've teamed up with Yoga Lounge Bournemouth and held a very unique experience for the members.

Our teacher Anna D. Yoga Bournemouth has led half an hour guided meditation with the use of our super comfy, high quality headphones 🎧 to cut all the external distractions. The session was followed by a Meditation LAB - a new concept to share the experience, learn some tools and to talk, what stops us from meditating on a daily basis.

We're honoured to be able to support such an amazing idea and here's to more of these kind of sessions 🙏 Thank you to all the students who showed up, it was fully booked and we couldn't have been happier!

I must admit… I find letting go of summer a challenge 😆 I’m a summer gal. I like warmer days, light evenings, joyful sunshine and the playfulness it brings (and the sea being a reasonable temperature!) I love festival season, and those golden hour vibes. I never feel ready for the falling leaves and knitwear, or cosy nights in. It always takes me a while to accept the end of summer and remember the things I love about this season (like Halloween 😆)

For me it’s become more about honouring a restful energy, and finding that balance once again. Taking time to connect with myself, setting new intentions & feeling the gratitude for everything so far. We’ve also got SO many exciting things in the pipelines, so it’s very much feeling like new beginnings magically weaving their way in ✨🙏🏻 Always growing & moving forwards… Here’s to a great summer & even greater things to come 🥰

✨Can Aerial Yoga ever be a grounding practice? ✨

Aerial as a practice doesn’t naturally lend itself to grounding energy. We are essentially using a floating prop that hangs from the ceiling. It’s very nature is Yoga “in the air”. So how can Aerial be grounding?

Grounding isn’t just about our connection with the earth beneath us. Feeling grounded is also about honouring the present moment, feeling connected to ourselves.

✨We connect to our breath.
✨We focus on the sensations that make up the moment around us.
✨We connect to our inner child joyfulness and giggles - coming home to our true selves.
✨The concentration required for some of our moves naturally makes you present. It’s hard for your mind to be wandering off when you’re wrapped up in your hammock!

✨Within our practice, we are always exploring our relationship with gravity. Aerial gives us an enhanced appreciation for gravity. Whether that’s exploring the weightlessness of flying through the air, or enjoying the decompression of our inversions.

✨Our fabric holds and supports us in the most loving way. You can feel safely cocooned in the silks, weightlessly cradled with a gentle sway.

✨Our mat is always there too. Never far away! Lots of our practice still involves a connection with our mat beneath us. (Even if we are partly suspended!)

So, whilst grounding might not be a quality we would typically associate with Aerial Yoga, it certainly has a way!

🌅 We are the horizon… balanced between the earth and sky 🌅

Grounding into Autumn 🍂

From the fiery energy of summer, we begin to descend back to the earth. September invites us home to ourselves. Classes this month are centred around the changing season and energy shifts that come with it 🍁 An opportunity to reflect & honour our growth so far, welcoming gratitude for our whole journey, as we release what we no longer need and plant seeds of new intentions for the next cycle.

We will be nurturing a more grounded and restful energy, allowing ourselves the space to let go & taking time to cherish the present moment 🙏🏻

It’s not just the classes, its the moments in between, where you roll up your mat & stay awhile. Yoga means many different things to all of us, but overall, it brings us community, connection and belonging. an I regularly create wonderful little social events, giving an opportunity to meet likeminded others & hangout after our practice. (These events often involve tasty food, and occasional paddles in the sea too!)

What does Yoga mean to you?

For me, initially, I came to yoga as a way of improving my flexibility and strength after an injury. But it soon became so much more than that.

Yoga brings peace, harmony, balance & contentment. Yoga is a way of finding and accepting yourself, just as you are. It is freedom and compassion. But most of all, Yoga brings community. Connection and belonging. I feel so grateful to be in this world... From the fabulous studios I get to be a part of, to my teaching family & my wonderful students.

Yoga is a gift, in so many ways, and I feel honoured to share it every day 💛🙏🏻

Yoga isn’t just a class, it’s a way of life.

✨Yoga Nidra✨

This dreamy meditation takes you to a deeply healing and restful space. Yoga Nidra translates as “Yogic Sleep”. Riding the wave between the conscious and unconscious, it is a state of complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. A profoundly restorative practice, allowing you to welcome true rest.

Nidra is one of my favourite practices to share. I love getting creative and writing my own scripts. I love the softness of the energy in the room when everyone settles. I love seeing people emerge feeling dreamy yet refreshed and hearing about everyone’s experiences afterwards.

So my offering at our upcoming Yoga & Taco night, will be sharing this beautiful practice. Karley and I always creating balance with what we share, forever the Yin to the other’s Yang (and vice versa!) After an energising Hatha Flow with Karley, we will get super comfy and cosy, settling into Yoga Nidra… Bliss 🥰

The theme for this years Mental Health Awareness Week is “Loneliness”. This is something I think we tend to associate with older age, but I’ve certainly had times in my 20s and early 30s when I’ve felt this. I will be forever grateful to those who reached out when I was struggling. Acts of kindness, however small, make more of a difference than most people will ever realise.

I’m also hugely grateful for my Yoga community. I feel like I’ve found my home in this beautiful world. Creating space for connection is such an important part of my offerings too.

So this week… (and always)
✨Know that there is immense courage in opening up.
✨Be kind always. You never know what someone is going through.

What is Aerial Yoga?
Aerial Yoga is a fun and playful way to deepen your Yoga practice and safely explore inversions. Perfectly complementing other styles of Yoga, Aerial Yoga offers lightness for mind, body & soul. Classes are based around traditional Yoga postures, using the fabric to help support your body weight. (Think of it as a gorgeous silky Yoga prop!) This allows for a greater range of movement and also the magic of zero compression inversions, giving a unique feeling of weightlessness and allowing the deepest release for your spine. It is very much still a Yoga practice, with elements of breathwork and meditation too. There are also lots of creative flips & tricks to play with as you build your confidence so you can truly embrace your inner child. Expect plenty of giggles & joyfulness and a newfound love for being upside down!

✨Step into your power✨ In this months classes, we will be focusing on STRENGTH & COURAGE. In our practice we will be working towards some daring, high power poses (as well as opening our hearts and connecting to ourselves) but also building our inner confidence, learning to trust our bodies and let go of all the doubts that hold us back.

To an extent, fear is important. It protects us from harm. But it can also stop us from moving forward, making changes and achieving our goals. As someone who has suffered with anxiety, I know this all too well. I went from being the girl who lived in NYC, to someone who could barely leave the house. Anxiety is our bodies fight or flight response being triggered. Our modern-day minds sensing danger. Feeling a little anxious from time to time can be fine, though sometimes it can become something hugely overwhelming.

Our bodies are our narrative. We all have our stories, our unique journey. This can leave a trace in the way we hold ourselves. If we think to nature, and the way animals will bring their chests closer to the ground to protect themselves when fearful, or will puff themselves up into powerful shapes when faced with an enemy, ready to stand their ground. Humans are the same. If we’re feeling a need to protect ourselves, our shoulders will round, we curl up through our hips. Stress hormones create a vicious cycle, causing our muscles tense, this will then feed back to our brain that there is danger, so we release even more. But, when we are feeling confident and in charge, we walk differently, we hold ourselves taller. We stand vulnerably with our hearts open. We soften, we relax. Studies have show that in Yoga, when we hold powerful poses like the Warriors, we have hormonal shifts in our bodies that elevate our confidence.

It’s easy to think of courage as being a big, heroic act, but actually for many of us, courage is something we draw upon daily. Courage to show up on your mat, to be yourself, to be in the present moment. Whether it’s something big or small, our moments of courage will look different for each and every one of us. 🙏🏻

✨This is meeeee!✨

Hiya 👋🏻 Just thought I’d introduce myself on here again as there’s lots of beautiful new faces on here! I’m Nicky, Yoga & Aerial Yoga teacher 🙏🏻 living by the beautiful South Coast seaside ☀️🌊

✨Yoga has been an immensely healing practice for me in so many ways, and I love every second of being able to share it with others 🙏🏻 I trained out in India and I’m so excited to be planning travel adventures again! 🌴✈️ 📷

✨I really enjoy sharing a variety of class styles with my students. Whether it’s a grounding mat-based Hatha practice, gentle restorative & meditation, or the playful, inner child wonder of all the Aerial flying flips and tricks! - I always stay very much rooted in traditional yoga, and focus on the therapeutic benefits of the practice, whilst bringing a joyful vibe!

✨I believe yoga should be about celebrating what your body can do, and focusing on progress, not perfection. I discovered yoga after a severe injury, and it has helped immeasurably, but I know that I will always need to listen to my body and recognise when to push myself and when to ease back.

✨ When I’m not practicing or teaching yoga, I’m making the most out of life by the sea and will most likely be found barefoot on the beach. I love SUP and now I really want to learn to surf too 🏄‍♀️ I started Surfskating a little while back, so I’m hoping that landing in the water is easier than on the concrete 😂🙈 Sunsets on the beach are my favourite thing in the world (especially when there’s chips too 😆)

✨Music is a big part of my life, and am very proud of my record collection, which covers most eras and genres! I love going to gigs and festivals. Those who have been to my classes will know there will always be a carefully curated playlist 🎶 and not always what you’d expect in a Yoga class!

✨I’m also a photographer 📷 This was my original degree at uni and I worked in London and New York when I graduated! I’m not a city girl at heart though, so now I focus on offering my skills for other Yoga Teachers and Wellness professionals.

✨Leaping towards the light✨

Classes this month are going to be focusing on the theme of splits - Hanumanasana!

Don’t worry, the expectation is not to be in full splits, but to rather explore the journey towards the pose and find our unique expression. As I always say in my classes… Whatever shape you create is beautiful 🙏🏻

Splits teaches us to listen to our bodies, to have patience and feel when it is time to progress. We will be working on releasing our hamstrings and hips (where many of us typically hold tension), whilst always honouring our wonderfully unique selves.

The monkey god, Hanuman was a companion of Rama, and is said to have leapt across the ocean from India to Sri Lanka. He is celebrated for his courage, devotion and strength, and it is also these qualities we will be embracing within our practice this month.

💐 Blissful Spring Retreat 💐(A slight change of plan for our offering this season!)

We’ve received so much love for our original event, but despite all the interest, many of you have been unable to make the date. (We also really appreciate that there’s been quite an increase in all of our living expenses recently, and we really want as many of you as possible to be able to join us🙏🏻)

So, we’ve listened to you beautiful souls, and have made the decision to move our Spring Retreat to Sunday 3rd April! We have also “edited” our offering to make it a little more affordable, as we feel it’s still so important to have the opportunity to connect with ourselves, each other and our Yoga practice.
