So there is still the burning question - how do I lose fat weight?

There is always the same answer. That is your in-take of calorific foods need to be less than your out put of energy. You need to make a calorie deficit daily to lose fat weight over time.

In other words, make sure you don't eat over what you need as energy throughout the day.

So if you are a couch potato, who likes to sit and what the TV all day while having a pizza, a beer and nothing much more, then guess what? Yup its all going to go on your waist line. If however you eat as clean as possible, that means cut out the processed food slowly, cut down sugar, alcohol etc and barely sit down all day, then you will be doing your body a bigger favour.

Finished a 5.7k run with my new pair of Nike Free RN shoes. Verdict, awesome. Like running in slippers but still gives good communication feedback from pavement to feet.

When choosing a pair of running shoes, always first find out how your running gait is then find the shoe for your particular foot and how it touches the ground at every step. This helps greatly for correct hip, leg and ankle placements and stops bad posture creating issues later on in the future.

There are many running shops around, but the good ones have a small treadmill attached to a screen which will track what the feet are doing.

Shop around before spending the best part of £80 plus as they will need to last you for a couple hundred kilometres.

Good bye Summer and hello Autumn!

Does that mean we need to hang up our trainers and sit by a fire and eat lots and drink hot chocolate.... um... ok no, though tempting isn't it?

Well all the hard work you may have put your body through over the summer will be undone if you let it slip.

As we move to the colder months we like to stay in warmer areas and do a little less outside. Less exercise and more eating means one thing - yup you got it - excess body fat storage.

So lets nip this little annoyance in the bud right away and start before the cold really sets in.

Get into the habit in eating enough calories to help you throughout the day but ensure that you expend more than you eat if you want to lose that body fat.

As it gets cold, use layers and not wools if going out for a run or fast walk. Check out Runners World for more info on this.

It's still possible to work out at home, using water bottles, cushions and stairs so there is no excuses. :) If you need any ideas, just let me know.

Keep with it and make yourself proud.

We all need to do about 30 minutes a day exercise or 150 minutes a week intense exercise to keep a healthy body, but this can seem like a steep mountain to climb if its not part of your life style.
Find motivation in your friends and family, children, grandchildren. Look after yourself and be the person who smiles at their reflection in the mirror knowing you are the best you can be.

Its HOT out there. Even in normal temperatures we need to ensure that we keep our liquids up. Remember to drink more on hotter days. If you are thirsty you are already dehydrated. Aim to drink a little every half hour to an hour if possible. Yes too much water will wash away some good old fashion electrolytes so to counter that, don't go straight for the shop counter and grab energy drinks - make them yourself. Water, real orange juice / fruit juice, a little honey for sweetness and a tiny amount of salt all thrown into a litre bottle will help hydrate you on a work out.

Training up for something special gives you an edge and a focus for what you want to achieve. Keep that in mind when you don't feel like going out for that run, or even getting out the door for a walk. Doing a little of something is still a step forward in the right direction. Doing nothing and you remain as you see in the mirror. Your life, your choice. Keep yourself motivated by giving yourself goals, right something on the fridge door to remind you of that upcoming work out. Even getting the kit together the night before so you have no excuse for time finding it when you need it. Above all BELIEVE in yourself. Good luck!
