SHOOTING CANCELLED TODAY DUE TO A FALLEN TREE ACROSS THE DRIVE. If anyone has the urge to cut it up for us that would be wonderful. Please let me know if you can help.
Thanks. Sarah

Christchurch Gun Club is a welcoming, warm and friendly club. It was established in 1902 and moved to its present site in 1968. We also have an Airgun gallery and a woodland range and members regularly shoot on NRA and military ra
MAINTENANCE DAY - looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Happy Christmas to everyone.
Happy Christmas everyone!
I cannot believe that Christmas is only a week away. I don’t know where the time has gone.
I would just like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
I would also like to thank everyone for their support over the last 12 months, especially my husband, fellow Committee members and the Trustees. I couldn’t do my job as Secretary without their moral support and guidance.
Thank you as ever to all our Range Officers and to Declan for organising the rotas for us. We couldn’t do what we do without you, and we are trying to get more members to train so that we can share out the duties more so that ROs can get a chance to shoot as well as look after the rest of us. If you know anyone interested, or anyone out there is interested in training as an RO, please let me know. Don’t forget we could also use an admin assistant for Allan on a guest day – you do not need to be an RO for that – just a willing helper to log people and take their money.
Next year, don’t forget to make sure your records are all up to date with the Club – not only the gun lists I keep banging on about, but also your personal information as the police double check what I have on the database against their records.
The police are also examining licences more carefully and, after the atrocities in Syndey this week, may well be thinking about tightening up their requirements. You need to show, via the range forms that you have used all your guns on at least 4 occasions on the Hill in a 12 month period, unless you have a valid reason. We also have to inform them of people that have not shot with the Club in the last 12 months. So, even if you are a deer stalker and never really attend the Club, you will need to pop up and see us a few times.
I am looking forward to seeing as many of you as can make it on 30th for the CGC Christmas party – don’t forget that you can do as little or as much as you like, but it would be lovely to see you. Due to family and work commitments (I’ve recently changed my job!) Andy and I can only really make it up on a Sunday, so we know quite a lot of faces of the Sunday shooters. We have 600 members and, although most people know me, I don’t know many of you. So, it would be nice to put a few more faces to names I see on the range forms.
Have a lovely one, whatever you are up to over the Christmas break.

MAINTENANCE DAY - TUESDAY 30 DECEMBER
Fancy working off some of the Christmas calories? Need to get out and about into the fresh air before the next round of partying?
Come and join your friends and fellow members giving the Club a bit of Christmas TLC.
I know it is an odd day, but we thought it a good idea to hold it on a Tuesday as it means we don't have to close the ranges and we have as long as we want to play without worrying about finishing on time.
There will be free tea and coffee (and I'm sure I can bring some hot chocolate up) and biscuits and possibly mince pies!
As always, you don't have to bust a gut, or a belt, on the day - a little light exercise sweeping or more strenuous stuff shovelling sand back up onto the backstop if you have the energy.
Or simply come for a Christmas get together! We all have our specific days we can get to the range to shoot so we often see the same faces all the time. Come and meet new people – we have 600 members so there must be someone different out there for you to meet!
The fun kicks off about 9am and will go on as long as it needs to.
See as many of you there as can make it.
PS – Christmas Jumpers Optional!

09/11/2025
Thank you to everyone who took part in the salute today.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.
Never forget: Never forgotten.
Remembrance Sunday Salute
This Sunday is Remembrance Sunday and in what has become a tradition with the Club, we well be remembering the fallen and all who have served in all fields of war and conflict in our own special way!
After the 2 minutes silence at 11am, we will be carrying out a military rifle 3 shot salute from the 25m line and anyone wishing to take part is more than welcome.
Shooting will stop at about 10.45 to allow us time to set up on the main range ready for the 2 minutes silence and then Allan will take the salute.
Hopefully we will see as many of you there as possible.

CANCELLED CANCELLED - FRIDAY 12 SEPTEMBER EVENING SESSION - CANCELLED CANCELLED
Sadly due to not being able to get an RO to cover this session, we have had no choice but to cancel the evening session tomorrow.
Sorry for any inconvenience
Hopefully normal service will be resumed for the last to Friday evenings before we revert to the winter schedule on 1st October.
If anyone would like to consider training as an RO please contact me and we can go through it - we cannot run the club without our valuable ROs so any assistance would be very welcome.
Thanks for your understanding.

POSSIBLE CANCELLATION - FRIDAY 12 SEPTEMBER EVENING
We currently don't have an RO available to cover Friday evening this week. If we cannot get cover, I'm afraid we will have to cancel the detail
Please keep an eye on this page or the forum to get the latest update.
Thank you for your understanding

Message from the Committee!
In light of the recent heath fires and the nature of the ground around St Catherine’s Hill, the committee has decided that the use of Firebirds, tracer ammunition and any other exploding targets or ammo are not to be used on any of the ranges until further notice. We very much appreciated your understanding with this especially in light of the Holt Heath fires and as we have an active colony of the very rare sand lizards around our site.
Thank you from me and the Committee.

WEDNESDAY 16TH JULY AFTERNOON - GENERAL PRACTICE SESSION CANCELLED.
The Clay traps are in urgent need of servicing and repair and the engineer is coming down on Wednesday about noon.
The General Practice session in the afternoon is therefore cancelled, unfortunately as the engineer did not fancy having to duck flying bullets!
DTL in the evening should go ahead as normal.
Thank you for your understanding.

Many thanks to everyone who came to help on what has turned out to be a lovely sunny morning, even if it did make it a bit hot to be raking up the old clays, shovelling damp sand up hill and carting railway sleepers about on your shoulders!
Thanks to those that came to shoot but stayed to help - it was much appreciated.
We did a little bit of working out this morning - if we had employed someone to do the work the Membership did today, just on the main range, it would have cost about £2k. That doesn’t include all the hard work put in on the air range or in the woodland range or over the site in general!
Thanks again to everyone.
