Chapel Gate is a private site. You require a booking to use our pitches. If you haven’t got a booking we will ask you to pay for the pitch usage or kindly ask you to leave. Our team are working hard to preserve and prepare the pitches ready for a busy few months⚽️

We want to wish the incredible Team BU at SportBU, Bournemouth University all the luck for the Vitality Bournemouth Bay Run this coming Sunday where they will be running for Blood Cancer UK in memory of the incredible Baz, Barry Squires, who was Assistant Head of Sport at the Uni for many years.

Barry meant so much to so many and the team want to honour him but also raise vital funds to help us in our mission to beat blood cancer. Good luck guys, we will be rooting for you! ❤

As we move into a busy time we’d like to address that Chapel Gate is a no dog site 🛑 🐾

GUIDE DOGS - guide dogs and assistance dogs are allowed on site. Please make the reception aware on arrival.

- Chapel Gate is exclusively designed and maintenes for sport. We are strict to ‘No dogs and Animals’ to protect the surfaces and maintain a safe environment for athletes and visitors.

- Dog waste, even when cleaned, can pose hygiene risks on grass and artificial surfaces.

- Loose dogs or even leashed dogs in crowded areas or playing fields can create trips hazards or interfere with training, match play and events.

All clubs are aware of this and will remind you before arrival!

A few of us from BU are running the Bournemouth Bay run in memory of our amazing friend and colleague of 15 years, Barry Squires, who unfortunately lost his fight with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia last April.

What an exciting Wednesday at the Gate yesterday.... BU Women's Rugby with a 119 - 0 smashing and a 9-0 win from BU Women's Hockey!!!!! 🏉🏟️

Unbelievable from the TeamBU teams and we look forward to more action next week🗓️

- We wanted to update everyone on the current pitch conditions at Chapel Gate. The grounds are experiencing unprecedented saturation this year — we’ve had only three rain‑free days since January, and after a very wet December, the water table is extremely high. This means the pitches simply can’t dry out between rainfall, even when they look okay on the surface.

You may see areas of localised flooding on site, and despite this, our team is doing everything possible to make use of the limited playable areas to keep fixtures going where we can.

Our grounds staff are working tirelessly, but the ongoing weather is putting real pressure on scheduling and causing unavoidable disruption. The forecast suggests this unsettled spell may continue for the next couple of weeks. During this time, we’re also unable to carry out the usual maintenance to aid drainage, as the ground is too wet for any machinery.

We really appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support as we manage these challenging conditions. We’ll keep you updated as things develop.
