A brilliant second-half comeback saw Droitwich Spa Ladies make history in becoming the first side to reach the third round qualifying in the Adobe Women’s FA cup.
Long Itchington started bright and scored first, after we failed to clear a cross.
We reacted before half time and equalised after Daisy was fouled inside the box. Lauren stepped up and calmly sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, slotting the penalty into the bottom-right corner.
We came out reorganised in the second half, but it was the visitors who struck first. Their striker was given too much time on the edge of the box and produced a delicate d**k over our goalkeeper to put Long Itchington 2-1 ahead.
With just 10 minutes remaining, however, the comeback began. Ella stepped up with a superb free kick, curling it into the top-right corner to make it 2-2.
Then, in the final minutes, Ella delivered another dangerous corner which was met by a powerful volley from Tilly and fired home to complete an astonishing turnaround and make it 3-2.
A fantastic show of character, resilience and belief from the girls to turn the game around when it mattered most. We look forward to the next round FA cup draw. ❤️🖤
