The Guid Kitchen player if the month for June - Michael Caldwell

Michael has been a massive part of the success we've enjoyed throughout June and the full season. Time and time again, he has shown maturity beyond his years, making crucial tackles and helping provide a solid foundation for the team.

Michael was superb at both festivals this month, consistently performing to a high standard and giving everything for the badge. What makes his performances even more impressive is that he has continued to battle through injury issues along the way, never allowing them to affect his commitment, determination, or desire to help the team.

🏆 Wallace Cup Review – Dumbarton United 2014s🏆

Another excellent day from the team at the Wallace Cup in Stirling, showing once again the quality, character, and determination that runs through this team.

⚽ Match 1 – Dumbarton United 4-0 Carbrain

The team got off to a flyer with a dominant display from start to finish. Leo was in unstoppable form, bagging a hat-trick, while wee Stewart grabbed a well-deserved goal after weeks of hard work and effort. Jacob was clearly playing for the assist bonus though – his parents were reportedly already on the phone to a financial adviser after another creative masterclass!

⚽ Match 2 – Dumbarton United 1-1 East Kilbride

East Kilbride took an early lead, but the team stayed calm and battled their way back into a tough game. Max grabbed the equaliser and we created enough chances to win it, but just couldn't find the finishing touch. A hard-earned point against a strong side.

⚽ Match 3 – Dumbarton United 1-2 Riverside FC

Against the hosts, Dumbarton once again conceded an early goal before fully switching on. Riverside were a good side, but the team piled on the pressure and saw several guilt-edged chances just miss the target. With two minutes remaining, up stepped Jack with a brilliant equaliser that the performance deserved. Unfortunately, from the restart, the team – fuelled by adrenaline and chasing a winner – went full kamikaze football mode and a long ball over the top allowed Riverside to sn**ch the winner. A tough lesson, but one the boys will learn from.

⚽ Match 4 – Dumbarton United 3-1 West Park United

Knowing that two wins from the final two games were needed, the group responded brilliantly. Leo was at it again, firing home another hat-trick to secure a deserved 3-1 victory and keep qualification hopes alive.

⚽ Match 5 – Dumbarton United 1-1 Kirkcaldy

For what had become a theme of the day, Dumbarton conceded another early goal. But from that moment on, they were outstanding. They battled for every ball, played some great football, and Leo grabbed the equaliser. Despite a couple of injuries and plenty of pressure, we couldn't quite find the winner. A fantastic performance against the eventual cup winners.

With the group stages complete, we had to wait nervously to see if results elsewhere would go our way. Thankfully they did, and the boys found themselves in their second final in two weeks!

The celebrations were brilliant, but unfortunately the team may have used up a little too much energy before the final. Another close defeat, this time to Bellshill, left them disappointed once again.

But if there's one thing we've learned about this group, it's that you can never count them out. They keep responding, they keep improving, and they'll keep fighting. There is no doubt they'll get over the line and lift a trophy soon.

A fantastic cup competition, some excellent football, and another day where the group were incredibly unlucky not to leave with the silverware their performances deserved.
