Do you ever feel guilty that your little one doesn’t always get much one-to-one time with you?
Especially if there’s more than one child at home.
It’s not that you don’t want to. It’s just that family life is busy. Someone needs picked up, someone needs fed, someone can’t find their shoes, someone is crying because their ice lolly melted… and suddenly another day has disappeared.
Swimming lessons can be such a lovely way to create that dedicated time.
A Turtle Tots lesson isn’t just about learning to swim. It’s half an hour where you’re fully focused on your child.
You’re holding them, encouraging them, singing with them, helping them try something new and celebrating the little wins along the way together.
And while they’re having fun, they’re also building water confidence, learning important safety skills, developing strength and coordination, and getting used to the water at their own pace.
A weekly pocket of time that belongs to the two of you.
Our August term is now open for booking, so if baby or toddler swimming is on your “after summer” list don't leave it too late.

“My daughter loves her ‘magic nose’!”
How lovely is this feedback for our teacher Fabiana? “She is great fun and is always understanding with the children.”
That’s what Turtle Tots is all about.
Yes, our lessons help little ones build water confidence, learn important swimming skills and practise water safety from an early age- but they’re also full of the moments children remember.
The songs, the games, the funny phrases and the teacher who knows how to make them smile, even if they’re having a wobbly day.
Our teachers understand that every child is different. Some jump straight in, some need a bit more time, some love the water one week and cling on the next. That’s all normal, and we’re here to support them at their own pace.
Our August term will be coming soon, with baby, toddler and preschool swimming lessons across our venues in Drymen, Renfrew, Glasgow and Loch Lomond.
So if swimming lessons are on your “after summer” list, keep an eye out for booking details.

Holiday pools can be brilliant fun for little ones.
New surroundings, warm weather, exciting water, maybe a few inflatables, and suddenly your child is desperate to be in the pool from the second they wake up.
But pool safety starts before their toes even touch the water. Here are a few simple holiday pool rules to keep repeating:
💦 Always wait for a grown-up before going in
💦 Walk, don’t run, around the pool
💦 Stay where your grown-up can reach you
💦 Ask before jumping in
💦 Hold on when you’re asked to
💦 Never go back to the pool on your own
Little ones don’t always understand danger in the same way adults do, especially when they’re excited, tired, out of routine or somewhere new. That’s why clear, simple, repeated rules really matter.
At Turtle Tots, we practise water safety in ways that feel fun and natural, from holding on at the side to safe entries, floating, kicking and listening for cues.
So if you’re heading away this summer, keep the rules simple, repeat them often, and remember that supervision is still the biggest safety tool you have.
Happy holidays, little turtles.
Still looking for something for the kids to do during the summer holidays?
Our Summer Swim Camp could be just the thing.
Running from Monday 3rd to Friday 7th August at Buchanan Arms Hotel in Drymen, this week-long programme gives children the chance to practise their swimming, build confidence and keep active during the holidays.
It’s perfect for children aged 4-9 years, whether they’re just getting started or already have some experience in the water and would benefit from a focused week of support.
Here’s what we are running:
💦 10am- Beginner-Intermediate (5-7 years)
💦 11am- Beginner (4-5 years)
💦 11.30am- Intermediate (7-9 years)
The full week is £60, so that’s 5 classes for £12 each.
A lovely way to give them a bit of routine, burn off some summer holiday energy, and help them feel more confident in the water before the new term begins.

We all look forward to the summer break- it's lovely, isn’t it?
No rushing out the door for classes, no wet towels in the car, no trying to wrestle a damp toddler back into clothes in a changing room. Bliss… sort of.
But a few weeks away from swimming can feel like quite a long time for little ones, especially babies and toddlers. They learn so much through routine and repetition, so keeping water familiar over the summer can really help when lessons start again.
It can be simple, little things count.
A splash in the bath, a familiar swimming song. Pouring water gently over hands or shoulders.
Practising kicking legs, talking about holding on. Having a quick pool visit if you can.
It’s not about perfect practice. It’s just about keeping water feeling happy, normal and familiar.
So while lessons take a little summer pause, your little turtle can still keep building confidence in their own wee way.
Today was our last class of this block at Buchanan Arms, Drymen.
It's time for us to take a little break.
We hope the sun shines, that you all get some fun family time to relax, and that you keep practising everything you've learnt.
Thank you for being part of the Turtle Tots family and watch this space for summer swim tips and August term booking details.

If you’re heading off this summer for a day trip or a holiday, it’s worth having a wee chat with your little one about water before you get there. Not a big scary safety lecture, just simple reminders they can understand:
“We stay with our grown-up.”
“We walk near the pool.”
“We ask before we go in.”
“We hold on and listen.”
“We never go near water by ourselves.”
Even if they’re tiny, these little phrases help build awareness and make water safety feel familiar.
That’s a big part of what we do in Turtle Tots lessons too. Yes, there are songs, toys and lots of splashing, but underneath the fun, children are learning important water safety skills in a calm, age-appropriate way.
Whether it’s a hotel pool, paddling pool, beach or loch, start the water safety chat early.
Tiny reminders now can make a big difference later.
