Penman Cup semi and final at Dumfries Bowling Club tonight, with Marchmount Bowling Club's Leanne Hamilton, Steven Lowther and Colin Peacock taking 3 of the four places and Malcolm Ramage, Dumfries the fourth player.
The semi finals saw Leanne take on Malcolm and Colin play Steven. Played as a sets competition both games went to a tie break. A wonder bowl from Steven to take the second set and force a tie break. In the other semi Leanne took the first set and looked good for the second with Malcolm needing at 3 in the last end to level things up and get the tie break, which he managed to do. Leanne and Colin both progressed to the final.
Leanne took the first set with a convincingly at 10-2 victory and continued in the same vein in set 2 with Colin needing a 4 in the 7th end to have any chance of getting back into the game. It wasn't to be and Penman Cup Winner 2026 is Leanne Hamiltonπππ.
Presenting the prizes, Dumfries President Andy Cochrane thanked all players for supporting the event with 33 entries this season and becoming an established event in the bowling calendar for the Dumfries Clubs. He also thanked the sponsors, Irongray Auto Centre for their continued support and invited David Girdler the sponsors representative to present the prizes.
A modest Leanne said she hadn't prepared a speech given the company she was in and hadn't even contemplating winning but thanked Andy and Dumfries Bowling Club for organising the event this year and everyone who had taken part.
Well done Leanne. Played well all night and a deserved winnerπππ.
Thanks also to Andy Cochrane for organising things this year and Dumfries Bowling Club for their hospitality and hosting the finals.
