Here at Dunblane Bike Club, we've been seeing our most popular weeks ever with great turnouts across all our rides.
Meet our blue ride, this is our middle-paced ride on a Sunday, lots of people here had never ridden in a group, and we give people the confidence to ride in pairs, taking turns at the front and a friendly environment to get a weekly dose of exercise alongside like-minded people.
What does a Sunday Blue ride look like? After meeting up at the Dunblane Centre at 9am, there will be some chat and a brief introduction from the ride leader about the route and what to expect. Typically, this is ridden at around 21-23kph/13-14mph for between 3-4 hours with a cafe stop around halfway.
We are still welcoming new members to our growing and active cycling community, ensuring that there is a place for every pace across our weekly programme.

Sunday 22nd March Ride Reports
Green Ride
A very enjoyable loop from Dunblane via Stirling, Blairdrummond and Doune was undertaken by a group of 5 riders including new member Kate.
It was a mixed surface ride, predominantly on tarmac with some gravel included to avoid the busy A84. Overall ride was approximately 22 miles and included a fuel stop at the Smiddy Farm shop for coffee and cakes…delicious!
Blue Ride
What a fabulous blue ride on Sunday morning, 8 of us (4 male, 4 female) left the other groups and headed out on a loop through Crieff. It was a great mix of roads out towards Auchterarder, Kinkell Bridge and in the back road to Crieff. Our stop was at the Steading in Crieff and despite most of us having been there before we had a wee tour of the car park until we found our way to the building. I think that was purely because the chat was so good as it is very unusual for us not to get the direct route to coffee 😂. As usual the breakfast rolls were awesome and fuelled us for the ‘minor inconvenience’ out of Muthill back to Braco! As always a lovely social pace and lots of great banter. Roll on next Sunday
Red Ride
With blue ride being so popular Ian changed the red route to a shorter / faster (Sunday Sprint - the sprint bit being relative!). Heading out west to Doune and then the backroad towards Callander, over the A81 passing Loch Rusky and then heading back via Thornhill. A shorter (27 mile) sharper ride for Ian and Neil, with plenty of chat, a wee damp spell and an occasional push from a tail wind on the way home!

With a poor weather weekend, we were fortunate that we had booked some time to visit the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome for an awesome and unique experience.
Our group was of mixed fitness and experience in riding on the road. As a group, we had so much fun under the guidance of coach David from the velodrome, who taught us skills that allowed us to go from being nervous about even getting on a bike with no brakes to flying around high up the banking and even taking part in a fastest lap competition.
As always, the group took to the challenge with great humour, enthusiasm and with the usual encouraging atmosphere.
Our attention now turns to our Season Opener on the 29th March, with routes for all fitness and confidence levels. If you are interested in joining Dunblane Bike Club, then check out our website www.dunblanebikeclub.co.uk or drop us a DM, we'd love to have you along.

The weekend already seems SO long ago, but on Sunday we had such a blast exploring our local off-road trails. Armed with gravel bikes and a mountain bike, we set off to do a loop that climbed up to the Braes of Doune Windfarm. In this stunning route, the scenery speaks for itself.
We took many unexpected turns as we managed to cover 30km/18 miles, barely touching a road by trying out different paths that many of us had never explored before stopping off at Braco Coffee for a well-earned refuel with our friends at Braco Coffee, before rolling back to Dunblane on the road.
Our summer timetable kicks off in just two weeks. We offer rides across a range of distances and speeds, so there is something for everyone. For more information, check out www.dunblanebikeclub.co.uk

It's hump day, which means that the weekend is coming and it'll soon be time to get out and explore our local lanes once more.
Last week group of 8 set off this morning - a combination of the Blue and Red groups, making a perfectly sociable “Purple” ride.
Heading out to Braco (dodging the significant puddles), I don’t think we really appreciated the tailwind we must have had! From Braco, we climbed up to the Balloch road above Muthill and Drummond Castle, and we cut down past Loch of Balloch to our coffee stop at The Steading Courtyard in Crieff.
Refuelled, we head across to Comrie, passing Cultybraggan and climbing up to Langside. A pretty brutal headwind limited the run back to Braco and then really limited the pace from there back to Dunblane.
A typically Dunblane Bike Club social Sunday - and the rain stayed away! 🌤️

Wow, what a great night last night. Many thanks to our friends at Roots Cycles and in particular, to Marty for taking our members through some do's and don'ts with bike maintenance.
Marty walked us through tyre challenges, drivetrain maintenance and how to effectively clean your bike when you have significant time constraints.
This was such a great session that covered the topics in a way that could easily be consumed by home mechanics and total beginners alike.
If you have any issues with your bike or maintenance questions, head over to Roots Cycles to chat with Marty and the team.
We'll hopefully be able to arrange another session for members in the near future.

Fit For Life Presented by Keith Partridge
DBC, in partnership with Sheep in Wolf's Clothing are proud to share that our very own Keith Partridge will be presenting Fit for Life - Dare to Dream on Friday, the 20th Feb at the Sheep in Wolf's Clothing brewery.
Join Jack (aged 82) and Jiggs (aged 50) as they cycle across the French Alps on a ride of a lifetime across 9 classic Tour de France cols covering 10,000 vertical metres. This film shows that age is no barrier to daring to dream and that we should all have things to aim to do in the latter 3rd of our lives. The film features commentary from the 'voice of international cycling', Phil Liggett and expert input from the world's leading lights in healthy ageing.
Tickets are available for free at the following link.
