International Pole Dance Day is coming up on the 30th of September, so while we share the privilege of enjoying, teaching, and learning Pole dance in the studio, it's time to honour the folks who brought it to us in the first place and still push it forward to this day! We want to give something back to the SWers, skrippers and QTPOC community who have always been at its roots.
So this night will be filled with fun and dancing with the freebs, and it's donation based entry with the studio adding their slice to the pot to share between 2 Scotland based groups-

is a building block for a Scottish QTPOC pole dance collective giving amazing opportunities and focusing on lowering barriers of entry for the marginalised into the pole industry and performance scene in Scotland.

Scotland for Decrim is a grassroots campaign fighting for the full decriminalisation of s*x work in Scotland.

THE EVENT:

Sat 3rd October, 7.30- 10pm
Dare us to dance, with games, prizes and snacks!
First your instructors Nicole Tait Tara Jane will perform freestyle to a lucky dip of songs of your choosing (with some aerial involvement too as we're all here for it!) followed by an open stage for anyone else that wants to take their chance on a lucky dip or give us a wee dance to a song of their choosing (doesn't have to last the whole song!) Everyone will be asked to throw a song (or two..) into the tombola, so are you going to chuck in a wild card and see how we deal with it?! Or do you have a banger in your head you just want to see a performance to?! That's up to you.
There will also be some fun wee games and challenges with prizes during the night, and snacks and juice provided, but do also byob! You do NOT need to perform to attend, more folks the better as this will be a donation based attendance.

Please book your free space via the schedule for an idea of numbers - and bring any amount you can donate with you on the night, no limit or requirement. If you can't make it and still want to donate please message Jenny and we can sort this out, or you can bring a donation to the studio and it will be added to the tally!

So excited for a fresh start to the year for students here in Dundee, and we have some intro offers for anyone making a start with us this term!
We are so happy to teach the classes for both the Dundee University Aerial Society Dundee Uni Aerial Society and Abertay University Pole Society AberFly🦋Abertay Pole Society and so have exclusive beginners courses, class packs, and our lowest prices for those matriculated with either of these groups 💛 (this must be done seperately with the societies 😊)

We also offer a general student discount for any other students of 15% off single main apparatus classes, or 5% off our already discounted regular class packs. Just message us for the discount code 💛

The societies have some tasters coming up (linktree!) so if you're interested in joining them (full disclosure- may be the best decision you make at uni- meet amazing friends and grow together while you learn to do mad stuff, be part of their awesome socials and maybe free food and discounts from any sponsors, take part in their fully optional but amazing SHOWS! Or even competitions if you are that way inclined... you know... all the fun stuff! Check with your society what's available!)

Pole TASTERS Thursday 17th sept- 4.30-5.15pm and Saturday 19th 1-1.45pm. Booking will be direct through them.

CLASSES AND COURSES
Their exclusive 4 week beginner course will run from Sunday 27th at 7.30pm, and packages will be available for other student exclusive classes and classes for all levels already on our timetable! These classes are marked with a 🧡 on our schedule.

DUNDEE UNI AERIAL SOCIETY

TASTERS
Pole and Aerial Hoop tasters (simultaneous but seperate) - Sunday 20th september 4-4.45pm, and Wednesday 23rd September 4.30-5.15pm
Silks taster- Wednesday 23rd sept at 3.30- 4.15pm. Bookings direct through them.

CLASSES AND COURSES: Their 4 week beginner courses will run from:
POLE Tuesday 29th sept at 8pm. SILKS on wednesdays at 3- 4.10pm from weds 30th and HOOP from the same date at 4.15pm.
Packages will again be available for other student exclusive classes and classes for all levels already on our timetable. These classes are marked with a 💜

Another Freebird show, another night filled with talent, support, love, strength and just magic! ✨️ Our biggest show yet- but still could have watched you all for hours longer- thank you so much performers for the most amazing evening of entertainment. We laughed, cried, drooled, and gasped, and felt warmth, strength, individuality, joy and hope from all the goodness and creativity you brought to the stage, and fired back in the energy every person in attendance brought to the studio 🧡

Thank you audience for your endless cheers and good vibes 💛 Thank you Rachel for hosting with the most (ing) ✨️ Thank you instructors for filling the Freebirds full enough of confidence and skill to take to the stage 💖thank you EVERYONE who supported in any way, from set up, to tidy up; from lighting to support acting roles, from buying a ticket to asking how you could help at any time... you are truly all appreciated so much.
They say it takes a village to raise a Freebird show 😉🤭... and we are so lucky to have the best dang villagers around.
So much love and gratitude to you all, had a wonderful time celebrating all that you are, and all that we are together 🤗

It's almost SHOWTIME AGAIN! 😁🥳 waaaaah and we can't wait til Saturday til a whole bunch of Freebirds get to show you what they've been working on! So much hard work is being put in as usual and we know it is going to be one heck of a night. Can't wait for more magical moments like these, and we're being hosted once again by the amazing Rachel-Marie Weiss, queen of the mic.

Not only silks- but we also have a complete beginners Pole course coming up on Tuesdays too!
☀️Tuesdays 8pm from 14th July, for 4 weeks!

Get started from the very basics, learn spins, twirls, shapes and climbs and have big giggles everywhere in between! We love getting folks started on their pole journey and are there to support you whatever your start point, no experience, strength or flexibility required.
Come and start your journey with a group of like minded folks, and guided by our lovely instructor Grace, and a week with Jenny too 💖

It's time for a fresh Aerial Silks Beginners course at Freebird!
☀️Starting Tuesday 30th of June at 8pm for 4 weeks.

Come and learn from the very basics- how to start wrapping and knotting your way into the air, and building the strength and technique to make some beautiful shapes and movements supported only by our beautiful silks! (And of course your wonderful instructor Rachel, and the cheers from the rest of your learning group!) No experience, flexibility or strength level required.

Moves will start lower to the ground while we get used to how the silks move and how you can move within them, and where the wraps need to be to hold you up! But you'll also learn climbs and holds to let you aim higher if you're comfortable! 💛

We have regular drop in classes through the week but to attend these, folks must have attended at least a beginners course like this- so here is your chance! Start on a new journey within this beautiful art form- and along the way get more strong, and surprise yourself finding new ways of moving you maybe never imagined!

Booking is via our website/ booking schedule and you only need to buy one ticket to book the full course. Just get in touch with any questions! ☀️

You may have heard murmurings that we have some super cool aerial workshops coming to freebird in April... well, they were true 🥳 and we now have full details and bookings open for these 3 amazing workshops with the fantastical Freya Pellie !

Check the schedule for full details on each one including pre-requisites, more descriptions of what's included, how to pay, and some discounts for folks that want to book into more than one workshop! Woohoo!
You just know it's going to be a good time when one disclaimer reads: "flares are so insanely satisfying to teach and I will clap and whoop like a happy sea lion when you nail a new one."

We are also super excited to be welcoming Nicole regularly to the timetable!
Nicole is an amazing poler, mover, human and long time friend and runs in Perth too! But we are also lucky enough to benefit from her wealth of experience as she takes on our uni societies class, and our regular Intermediate pole class on a Wednesday and shares spin pole on Wednesdays with Jenny, starting next week!

She will also be taking a choreo (and the pole class before it) every second Friday of the month starting in February on the 13th! We are so excited to get to move with her on the regs!
