The team returned to the League Fixtures today to take on Lochee United, a side promoted as Champions last year who’ve run some teams close since the season began.

From the first whistle the boys showed their quality and the composure to control the ball and play with great intensity to keep Lochee penned in their own half and forcing them into playing long to relieve
the pressure. That being said we found ourselves only a goal up at half time with a strong goalkeeping performance from Lochee’s goalkeeper keeping them close by scoreline.

The second half started at a blistering pace from the Maryfield boys who went 2,3 then 4-0 up within 10 minutes through some great football. Again the boys showed some real maturity and game management to see out the rest of the game and adding another goal to win 5-0.

We now have a break from competitive fixtures over the holidays and will be eager to get back to it.

Another game not being played, this time the opposition genuinely can’t field a team. 5 out of 9 games this season have been given to us without a ball being kicked.

350 minutes of football our kids have been robbed of this season already.

We have a game next week then a two week break.

The SFA say “Let them Play” shame some people don’t agree with that!

The team were back to league action today and played an organised Dundee West side who made it tough at times with all players except our GK playing the game in the DW half making it very congested at times.

We seen so much of the ball and should’ve scored more goals but the boys done well to keep composed and get the goals when they did.

Well done on the 3 points lads.

About time!

A fixture being fulfilled and the kids getting a chance to play football.

Tomorrow the boys take on Dundee West in the Ronnie McCabe League. They’ll be keen to put in a good shift having only played 3 out of the 7 fixtures so far. Although there haven’t been many games the last few weeks they’ve trained the best we’ve seen yet, hopefully they can put it all together in tomorrow’s game.

Update***

Game off.

Another game forfeited, now 4 out of 7. I don’t know why teams enter competitions and don’t play the fixtures.

There’s loads of talk about the grassroots game in Scotland and the problems it has… this one is major and needs to be addressed!

😞😒

After another frustrating week at football last week due to another forfeited match meaning the kids didn’t get to play for the 3rd time in 6 games we’re glad to be looking forward to kicking off our Scottish Cup Campaign this Sunday against Kelty Hearts.

We played each other in Round 2 last year at Wellbank and now get to travel to Kelty for what’s hopefully a really good game.

Massive thanks to Joe McLeod for helping keep the Wellbank Pitch in good order. It’s great to have so many local people in Wellbank willing to help the boys and the area in general.

If anyone out there has any jobs around the garden they need help with give Joe a call. 🫶🏻👨‍🌾🪴

A really good day for football today and the boys didn’t disappoint playing some great football and finding space when there literally was none. A different kind of game today played in the smallest 11 a side pitch we’ve seen against a stuffy Dryburgh side. The team done well to figure it out and in the end should’ve had a few more goals but another good runout in the league cup with plenty of minutes getting into the legs.

Goals:

At the moment our next game is another 9 days away but hopefully get an update with a league fixture this weekend.

Well done boys another really good team performance.
