What a game. What a comeback. What a performance of character from Gunners.

First Half

The first half was, in all honesty, one we will want to forget. Dundee Athletic came out strong and we simply didn’t get started. We struggled to find our rhythm, gave the opposition too much room and found ourselves 2-0 down at half-time.

Second Half

The gaffer made changes at the break, including a goalkeeper change, and a few words at the half clearly hit home. Whatever was said, the response in the second half was outstanding.

We came out a completely different side.

We played football. We defended with purpose, moved the ball well and looked dangerous in the final third. The belief was back, and suddenly we were asking questions of the Gunners.

2-1 — The Comeback Begins

Our first goal was from William McCabe a bullet header from a beautifully delivered corner. A powerful finish that gave us exactly what we needed — belief.

2-2 — Never Give Up

We then won a penalty and had the perfect opportunity to level the game. Karter Inglis steps up unfortunately, the penalty was surprisingly saved, but Aiden Kinnie reacted brilliantly to the rebound and followed it up to get the ball into the net.

3-3 — WHAT A GOAL!

The third was a moment of individual brilliance. David McFarlane picked the ball up out wide and drove down the line, taking on three or four Dundee Athletic players before cutting the ball back towards the edge of the box to Jay Wallace.

The finish was perfect.

A composed strike that was slotted straight into the top corner to bring us level at 3–3.

From 2–0 down at half-time to completely turning the game around — incredible character.

The Gunners pushed hard for a winner, but we continued to battle. Then, around the 75th minute, we were reduced to 10 men following a red card.

And the adversity didn’t stop there.

Around the 80th minute, our striker picked up an injury. With all five substitutes already used, we had no option but to continue with basically nine men.

To make matters even more difficult, we had already been forced into another goalkeeper change around the 60th minute. With no goalkeeper available to step in, our winger bravely stepped up and took his place between the sticks — and he absolutely did his part for the team.

The final stages were pure determination.

Bodies on the line. Players battling through tired legs. Everyone working for each other.

The final whistle eventually went and we had secured a 3-3 draw.

On paper, it’s a draw.

To come from 2–0 down after a poor first half, completely change the game, score three goals, lose a man, lose our striker to injury and effectively finish with nine men — that shows the fight, character and togetherness within this team.

Credit to every single player who stepped onto that pitch today.

League Game ⚡️

First Half

The first 30 minutes was a hard-fought battle, with the boys working hard to match the intensity and pace of Dundee Amateur FC. There was plenty of effort, and for large spells we competed well against a strong Dundee side.

Unfortunately, in the 34th minute, the game changed very quickly. Dundee scored two quick goals in quick succession before being awarded a penalty, which they converted to make it 3–0. What had been a competitive first half suddenly became a much bigger challenge for the boys.

Second Half

At half-time, the message was clear: don’t let your heads drop, keep fighting and keep working for each other. Unfortunately,the second half went the complete opposite way.

The heads dropped, and we struggled to get back into the game. There wasn’t enough football played from our side, and Dundee took full advantage. As the half went on, they added three more goals to complete a 6–0 victory.

It was a disappointing second half after what had been a promising opening 30 minutes. The biggest lesson for the boys is that when things don’t go our way, we have to stay together, keep our heads up and continue to play football. Games like this will test us, but they are also opportunities to learn and improve.

There couldn’t be a better category suited for our wee pub. We’re proud of our team, they’re family to us, as many previous members of staff still are.

League Opener⚡️

Gunners and Fairmuir produced a fantastic, end-to-end contest that had everything you could ask for from a football match — goals, attacking football, determination and drama right until the final whistle.

First Half

From the opening whistle, both teams were clearly up for it. The game was played at a high tempo with Gunners and Fairmuir creating chances and attacking with real purpose.

Gunners showed plenty of quality going forward and found the net FOUR TIMES but Fairmuir refused to let the game get away from them. It was an entertaining and fiercely competitive first half, with both sides giving everything.

Second Half

The second half continued in exactly the same way — fast, competitive and full on attacking football.

Gunners looked to hold onto their advantage while Fairmuir continued to push for a way back into the game. For long periods, Gunners looked like they had done enough to secure what would have been a brilliant victory.

But then came the final 10 minutes…

Football can be a brutal game, and unfortunately for Gunners, the final stages proved just that.

Fairmuir scored three times in the last 10 minutes, turning the game completely on its head and snatching a dramatic 5-4 victory.

For Gunners, it was a devastating way to lose after putting in such a huge effort across the match. Despite the result, there is plenty to be proud of in the performance.

Credit to both teams for serving up such an entertaining game, but for Gunners it will undoubtedly feel like a missed opportunity after being so close to victory.

EBM CUP 🌟

It was an intense, hard-fought contest from the first whistle to the last, with both sides giving everything in a game that could have gone either way. After 90 minutes, the score finished 1-1, with neither team able to find a winner despite creating chances throughout.

Our team showed great determination, battled for every ball, and matched the opposition in every area of the pitch. We had opportunities to take the lead, but luck wasn’t on our side, and the game eventually went to a penalty shootout.

Unfortunately, we came up just short, losing 3-2 on penalties. It’s a tough way to lose after such an even contest, but the performance and effort from everyone involved were something to be proud of.
