Our dancers are very excited to be performing at the Sports Collective Scotland launch in a couple of weeks 💚

Preparations are very much underway for our launch event on Sunday 20th Sept.

We already have a great line up of clubs involved with even more to come. As well as some fantastic small local businesses coming along to support the event too.

We might even have a couple of special guests making an appearance…

We will be individually introducing each club, business and sponsor soon so keep an eye out and make sure you’re following all of our social media accounts.

What a busy week we’ve had!

Birthdays, new faces and lots of star awards going home.

Loads of hard work and even more fun in between. This week has made me extremely proud seeing everyone working so hard and equally being so welcoming to the new children coming into the EDA family.

When you join EDA you’re not just joining a dance class you’re joining our extended family! 💚

Everyone has been working incredibly hard this week. There have been lots of rosy faces leaving the studio!

Extra shout out to these three wee stars who took home awards last night for their hard work. Two out of three have just moved up a class which is a massive step in itself. New faces, new dances and harder work but they’re taking it in their stride.

Building that confidence one class at a time 💚

💙 Exciting News 💙

As some of you may already know I am founding a new sports based charity in Dundee.

Over the years, running EDA has shown me just how powerful sport and physical activity can be for a child.

It isn’t always about becoming the best dancer, footballer, gymnast or athlete. It’s about confidence, friendships, belonging, positive role models, opportunities and having somewhere you feel part of something.

We’ve also seen through our school workshops, community work and everything we’ve built at EDA just how important it is for children to be given the opportunity to try something in the first place.

And that’s a huge part of why Sports Collective Scotland has been created.

SCS will work alongside existing sports clubs, coaches, schools and communities to help create more opportunities and pathways into sport and physical activity.

I am very lucky to have built a fantastic board of trustees who share the same passion and dedication for sports and creating opportunities for children and young people.

We have BIG plans!

From school workshops and free taster sessions, to holiday camps, community sports events, mentoring and leadership opportunities for young people, supporting local coaches and clubs, helping reduce financial barriers to participation and much more.

Most importantly, SCS isn’t just for children who are already “sporty”.

We want to reach the child who hasn’t found their thing yet.

Sometimes they just need the opportunity to discover it.

We’re holding our first Sports Collective Scotland Launch & Community Sports Day:

📅 Sunday 20th Sept
⏰ 11:30-1:30pm
📍 MAC, Monifieth

There will be different local sports and clubs to discover, tasters, demonstrations, challenges, family activities and lots more.

And of course… EDA had to be part of where it all begins!

Our dancers will have the opportunity to perform at the launch event and help officially kick start the day, which feels particularly special knowing how much EDA and our experiences over the years have helped inspire the idea behind SCS.

This really is just the beginning. We have so many ideas for what Sports Collective Scotland can become and the opportunities we hope it can create for children, young people, coaches, clubs and communities.

I also know we have lots of families in EDA who are involved in other sports so please feel free to reach out and get involved. Likewise if there are any other clubs or coaches out there reading this who want to find out more please get in touch.

A big part of Sports Collective Scotland is about collaboration over competition.

Stage Stars worked hard on new songs last night and we had 2 take home awards. Well done girls 💚

Thursday is our night for all ages in the studio from tiny tots taking those first steps into classes to well experienced advanced seniors who have been dancing since they were Tots themselves!

Mini Movers is back tomorrow and we can’t wait!

This class is for our youngest little movers and their grown ups. Enjoy 40 minutes of fun together exploring music and movement.
