Comfort zones exist to be expanded.
I hate to admit it, but I had a blast in front of the lens at my recent photoshoot. It's something I never seen myself doing before. Would I do it again? Absolutely.

Gyms are up there in terms of places that can make a person feel overwhelmed, anxious or uneasy. Allow my studio to be that stepping stone. Train in total privacy, learn the basics and build gym confidence that you can carry forward! With PT, semi private and even private gym hire available, I have lots of options for busy schedules and budgets.

Don't phone it in. 📞
Seriously though, you bought new gear, a gym membership, got a food shop, bought new food containers, got a new programme, told everyone this time for sure and when you got to the gym you barely broke a sweat. In order to illicit change we have to send a compelling petition to the brain that says "activities are hard. Adapt." When we phone stuff in, we can only convince our conscious self that we're doing well for so long until the results fail to materialise, we get fed up and duck out. With all that prep and set up it feels wasteful not to put the effort into the final hurdle, the activities themselves, after all if a job is worth doing... Well, you know how it goes.

Commit to the bit. Hello 40. 🤘
Last year I set my intentions to get myself in shape for turning 40. I enlisted my pal and coach and we booked a shoot with

Dropping almost four stone, I feel far fitter and more confident heading into my forties.

I'm proud to say that I also feel confident leading from the front again, that showing others I can follow through on my intentions.

I'm excited to see what the road to 41 brings!

Just a quick thank you to all my recent followers. I haven't been particularly active on social media, but I promise you, the gym is ready and waiting for all of your private hire needs. Thank you to everyone who has given it a shot so far, and to some recurring bookings I'm seeing popping up. I'm a one man band, and this is honestly a huge boost for my business and family, so thank you!

It's been crazy since I started promoting the new service, a sudden influx of new PT clients caught me off guard and I've been taking a few weeks getting them all sorted out and upto speed on programming for their goals. That said, time to get back into the swing of sharing the space and it's capabilities for getting people fit!

How to book private hire!

I've had a few questions on booking private gym access.
To hire the gym, follow the link in the comments to select and book your time slot. Session blocks or PT can be booked from this page also. Once you have booked your slot, follow the instructions to fill in your details on my client app and you will receive details on how to access the gym during your time slot. Parking is free (follow instructions for this) and help yourself to a wee red bull. My thank you for your booking!

A sneak peek behind the scenes of Today's photoshoot, a goal I committed to doing a little over a year ago.

I'll do a deep dive on my thoughts when we get the full high resolution pics back in, but for now let's just say, there's no reason at all to hit 40 and think "ah well".

Massive shout to Lydia and Ben for their eyes today and for making the whole process fun, engaging and worthwhile.

I've always skirted around the edges of the fitness industry, never indulging in fitness races, strongman, bodybuilding etc.

My focus has always been purely focused on feeling fitter, stronger & being a bit healthier. I've always had admiration for all athletes and even played a bit of American Football for a few years but I very rarely put myself out there on an individual level. I spent my 39th year dropping close to 4st bodyweight. To celebrate regaining a bit of control back over my personal health (which, I had neglected) I booked a photoshoot.

There is nothing competitive about this at all, but I am honestly a bag of nerves (despite being in the capable hands of my coach and my photographer). I'm not competing here but I am putting a foot forward during a time where body image is intensified under the lens of social media. It's hard not to pick faults despite the leaps of progress from A to B, but who put the idea of what those faults constitute in the first place? In my mind, the only answer I can come up with is the arm chair doomscroller, the insecure critic, the illwisher and the envious.

If I look at the results of tomorrow and like what we've done, isn't that all that really matters? Like I said, I don't compete... But I tip my hat to those who do. Your mental fortitude to shut the noise deserves all the praise it gets. You absolutely astound me putting your good foot forward and competing on a stage in front of all those eyes, judging every nook and cranny. Anyway, I needed to write this stream of pure unfiltered conscious thought to ease my nerves and I'm going to take the advice my client gave me this morning and not let my brain ruin it for me. Let's just have fun.

"I have the wee lad today. Is that OK?"
Of course! Let them see you at your best, involve them, let them know what exercise does and how it's good for your body!

My client Neil and the wee man today, doing a wee bit of team work to tackle the sled push.

Be unapologetically patient with yourself. Everything we do involves a degree of practice, from making the bed to performing in your day to day work roles. We never stop practising.

This is important because when most of us approach fat loss we are expecting a level of perfectionism with our efforts. We pile needless levels of expectation on ourselves. This is where patience comes in. The above results were not a six week blast with zero mistakes. There was lots of mistakes, breaks, temper tantrums and more. Every time sonething wasn't quite right I took a step back instead of throwing in the towel and came back with a fresh determination each time. Treat fat loss like a skill to be practised and realise that mistakes are common, you will make them and it's how you respond to those mistakes that will make or break your outcome.
