Broomhall welcome Clackmannan County Cricket Club to the Cairns in Saturday in our final home game of the 2026 season.

Good to see veteran Neil Millar return to the squad for a cameo after his move down south earlier in year. Go well Neil.

💚🏏Broomhall vs Strathmore 2XI Match Review 🏏💚

Strathmore won the toss and inserted Broomhall.

Strathmore hit the mark early removing the danger man from last week Scott. Gus and Breeny were able to stable the ship and see off the openers before two quick wickets seen them both removed. At 37-3 another collapse threatened with another wicket seeing us 60-4 however, Rambo and Sandy would pack a very strong counter punch. Sandy with his power hitting and Rambo with controlled efficiency would put on a key partnership of 87 in short order taking us to 146-5 with plenty overs in the bank. Sandy would eventually fall for a well made 57 followed shortly by Rambo for 39. Always a quick raft of wickets would see Broomhall only add a few runs to this total.

Strathmore started the chase and despite some false shots Broomhall were frustrated however Rambo would get the first breakthrough catch taken by Breeny. The visitors then began to increase the pressure punishing any off line balls and it would be Phil who struck next leaving the visitors 80-2. After this however, this visitors settled into the chase and would lose no further wickets before chasing the total down in the 24th over.

Next week we welcome the Newley crowned Leauge champions Clackmannan to the Cairns.

Broomhall host Strathmore Cricket Club 2XI in the second leg of our double header at the Cairns.

After last weeks defeat Broomhall will be looking to bounce back after last weeks defeat in Forfar.

💚🏏 Broomhall vs Strathmore 2XI Away Match report 🏏💚

Broomhall ticked off another new ground this week as we made the trip up to Forfar to take on Strathmore 2XI.

Strathmore 2XI won the toss and elected to bowl in friendly conditions.

Strathmore made use of the conditions striking with three early wickets putting Broomhall at 18-3. Despite wickets falling the skipper lead by example looking to counter punch. Broomhall however, were unable to provide a partnership for Scott with wickets steadily being taken. Scott soon brought up his half century and continued to find the rope and would eventually fall for the last wicket for a very well made 78. It would be fair to say when extras is the next best scorer it’s not been a good day at the office for most with the bat.

Broomhall needed early breakthroughs if we were going to defend the low posted total. The home side however, were keen to put us under pressure with one opener in particular looking for an early finish. The first wicket would fall with 50 on the board with Sandy striking with a well taken catch behind by Donny. The skipper would take the second wicket but the home side remained in control and knocked off the score in 22 overs.

Not a great day Scott excluded however, we have a chance for revenge as we take on the same opposition at The Cairns on Saturday in a key game!

Broomhall make the trip up to Forfar to take on Strathmore Cricket Club 2XI tomorrow afternoon.

This is another new ground for us this season at least since our move to the SPCU!

Charlie Stoddart returns to Broomhall after a near decade absence and will be great to see our former chairman back on the pitch.

💚🏏 Broomhall vs Freuchie 2XI Match report 🏏💚

Broomhall welcomed Freuchie 2XI to the Cairns with the visitors winning the first encounter earlier in the season.

Despite some rain in the morning the ground was good to go and Breeny kept his tradition going and lost the toss with Freuchie electing to bat.

With a bit of rain and more lushness in the field the outfield was definitely not as lightning fast as recent weeks meaning it was a day for hard running.

Broomhall opened with our familiar duo and it would be Sandy who made two early breakthroughs with some late swing. Freuchie would dig in and it would be another 20 overs until the next wicket with the skipper getting the breakthrough. Although Broomhall kept good control of the rate the remaining opener passed 50 and continued to threaten. At 98-3 it looked like the visitors were set to push on in the last 11 overs but after a great run out from Govinda Broomhall had an opening. We also got treated to a rare Calum Breen spell bowling 8 overs straight including a great caught and bowled! Wickets continued to tumble with Sandy, Govinda and finished off in the last over by Angus Robertson (Breeny needs to learn to count)

Freuchie were all out for 125.

A great effort in the field by all.

Broomhall’s reply got off to a nervy start with Jack unlucky to middle a pull shot straight to the man. Euan joined Gus and despite pressure from the bowling side held firm slowly but surely building a partnership. The pair continued to methodically bat in and around the required rate for 22 overs before Gus was caught for a well made 34 in a key platform setting 85 run partnership for the second wicket. Sandy would be next in and was keen to move things along with some quick boundaries hitting a rapid fire 20 to put is within touching distance. Euan would eventually fall with an agonising 6 runs required to win for stubborn 39. Rambo would come in next and hit the winning runs with a boundary.

Massive effort from evening this week especially in tricky fielding conditions!

Broomhall hope to back this up when we travel to Strathmore on Saturday.

💚🏏 Broomhall vs Breadalbane Match Report 🏏💚

Broomhall welcomed Breadalbane to The Cairns Yesterday.

After winning the toss Broomhall elected to bat and got off to a tricky start losing 4 early wickets with 34 on the board. Despite this Broomhall started to recover anchored by Calum Breen through a number of partnerships with Euan, Chris, Donny and Sandy would us past 180. Calum would eventually depart for a very well made 83 including a Maiden half century and new top score. Donny also finished not out on 20.

Broomhall posted 185 all out in the 40th over

Taking advantage of a lightening fast outfield the visitors made a very aggressive start with the opener putting on 40 in just over 4 overs before Sandy got his wicket with a top catch from JP. A great piece of fielding from Govinda got the second with a direct hit run out. There was another opportunity for a run out when the Breadalbane batter slipped on the edge of the artificial but Skipper Scott elected not to take the run out. Highlighting that no matter the match situation our club wants to play the right way! Breadalbane would continue to make a charge lead by L.Gardiner who followed up 4 wickets in the first innings with 86 not out in the chase in quick order.

Breadalbane would chase down the target in 22 overs.
