🐦 I LOVE PIGEON POSE🐦
I’m pretty sure my classes are fed up hearing me say this… but I LOVE Pigeon Pose! 😂
It’s one of those poses that looks fairly innocent until you’re actually in it, then you realise your hips have some explaining to do. 😂
Pigeon is a brilliant hip-opening posture and can be particularly useful for those of us who spend a lot of time sitting.
It gives the glutes, piriformis, hip flexors and surrounding tissues a really good stretch, helping to improve mobility around the hips and pelvis.
And for me, that’s where the magic is.
When our hips are tight, it can affect how the pelvis moves and how we compensate through the lower back. Improving hip mobility can therefore help reduce that feeling of stiffness and restriction around the lower back.
There’s also something wonderfully calming about staying in a deep stretch, slowing your breathing and giving yourself permission to just… stay there.
And that’s one of my favourite things about Yoga.
It’s not about forcing yourself into the deepest version of a pose. It’s about finding your version of the pose.
Which is why I’ll always give you options. 🧘♀️
Because your Pigeon might look completely different from the person beside you, and that’s absolutely fine.
So yes…
I’ll probably continue banging on about how much I love Pigeon. 😂🐦
And if you’re coming to Yoga this week, there’s a good chance we’ll be spending some quality time together. 😉
Never tried Yoga before? You’re very welcome.
Think you’re “not flexible enough”? Even more reason to come.
And yes, there will be options.
