𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗞𝗘𝗜𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗟 𝗣𝗜𝗧𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗦

Many of you will have seen the statement from David Barratt SNP regarding the fencing currently being erected around Inverkeithing High School, including the grass pitches.

Like David, we were extremely surprised and disappointed to discover that the playing fields are also being fenced off. We were not informed this was happening today and disappointed in the lack of communication.

We were aware that Inverkeithing High School had no option but to close, but we do not understand why kids can’t play football on grass during the summer period.

This has the potential to significantly impact our planned summer football programme and the hundreds of local children and young people who participate in our activities.

We want to reassure all of our members that we are already in active discussions with David Barrett MSP and Fife Council to find a common-sense solution that allows Inverkeithing United Community Club to continue using the grass pitches at Inverkeithing High School until Caledonia High School opens in August.

Our club has over 300 members, and throughout the summer we provide a safe, positive and active environment for local young people. We firmly believe there is a practical solution that allows some of these facilities to remain accessible during this short transitional period.

We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to David Barrett MSP for his continued support. David has consistently stood up for our club and the wider community, challenging unnecessary bureaucracy and the dismissive approach we have too often experienced. His willingness to ask the difficult questions and fight for local organisations is greatly appreciated.

We remain hopeful that common sense will prevail, and we will continue to keep all members updated as discussions progress.

Thank you for your continued patience and support. Hopefully we will have a positive update for everyone very soon.
