The 1sts hosts league new boys Epworth in the Mid Ulster Football League Division 3, whilst the Reserves visit Coalisland Bhoys in the Adrenaline Sportswear Lonsdale League Division 2.

It was defeat in Junior Cup on Saturday as The Rovers lost out to a penalty in 2nd half extra time .

A first half Isaac Sloss goal drew the teams level only for Fintona to score within minutes to reclaim the lead. The hosts spent most of the 2nd half in control but the Swift's were dangerous on the counter, proving so as when pushing for an equalizer Dungannon ended up 3-1 down on 86 minutes played. Despite being so late in the game the Rovers pushed on knowing there'd be considerable injury time and on 89 minutes Nino Rosario drew one back. Spurred on by the home support the game was taken to extra time as Dinis Pinto turned the ball into the net to the joy of the home crowd. Unfortunately a winning comeback wasn't to happen as a late extra time penalty saw Fintona go into the lead again and hold on to the Final whistle.

A match that left the squad deflated, knowing the game was there for the taking after a day of missed opportunities.

Some things are much bigger than football.

This isn’t our usual Sunday post, but sometimes there are things more important than food, drinks and what’s happening in the bar.

On Friday night, after finishing work with us, our Aureilja went home to something nobody should ever have to face, a fire at her family home.

Thankfully, and most importantly, everyone is safe. Sadly, they lost their family pet, the upstairs of their home has been destroyed and much of downstairs has been badly damaged by water.

Anyone who knows us knows that the people who work here become part of our little Gasworks family. Aureilja is one of those familiar faces so many of you will know from being served by her, having a chat with her, or simply seeing her about the place.

This is not a begging post and we’re not setting up a GoFundMe.

We’ve simply put a bucket behind the bar for anyone who knows Aureilja, or anyone who would just like to help, to throw a few pound into. There is absolutely no expectation whatsoever.

Sometimes when something awful happens, people want to help but don’t know how. This is just our way of giving anyone who wants the opportunity to do that.

Every penny collected will go directly to Aureilja and her family to help them get back on their feet.

From all of us at The Gasworks, we’re just very, very thankful that they are safe. ❤️

Last night the Reserves kicked off their league campaign with an away trip to Richhill AFC U23 Colts. A goal from Rafael Fernandes gained the Rovers a point with Dion McCausland awarded man of the match!

Saturday seen The Rovers host MUFL Div 2 side Scarva Rangers Fc in the Marshall Cup at the Joe McAree Junior Stadium.

The hosts took the lead on 12 minutes from an Isaac Sloss header after a cross to the back post by right winger Donal Mallon following a long diagonal ball from full back Willie Frizelle. A cross come shot from Frizzle was mis controlled by the Scarva keeper allowing Sloss to put the home side back in front before the break as the visitors had got themselves level minutes before hand.

On 66 minutes a quality in swinging corner from Jordon Hazelton eventually dropped to the feet of midfielder Dinis Pinto and he calmly found the back of the next to extend the lead. The game was put to bed on 80 mins when youngester Sloss completed his hat trick when a ball was recovered in a dangerous attacking area and with pressure from behind he calmly slotted past the oncoming keeper. The scoreline was added to further on 88 minutes when the energetic Nino Rosario worked hard down the left side eventually getting a shot off which was parried out to leave a tap in for Gabby Saldanha to get his first goal for the club.

The 𝘼 & 𝙋 𝙍𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 man of the match was Isaac Sloss.
