Scottish Venison Day | Meet Lauren Houstoun

Lauren Houstoun, our Best Sporting Influencer 2026, is passionate about helping more people understand venison, where it comes from and the role responsible deer management plays in Scotland.

From running the Glenkilrie Larder Cook School to donating a tonne of venison to Scottish schools each year, Lauren is helping bring the field-to-fork story to a much wider audience.

We asked all of this year's award winners about their journeys, their work and what comes next. We'll be sharing their interviews over the coming weeks.

Ladies Goose & Duck Shooting with SAC Shooting

Looking for a memorable shooting experience this autumn? SAC Shooting, x2 winner of the Best Sporting Agency category at the Scottish Country Sports Tourism Awards, are offering a three-day women-only goose and duck shooting experience in Aberdeenshire this October.

The four-night experience combines three full days of shooting with comfortable accommodation and the chance to enjoy the field alongside like-minded women.

Each morning will focus on goose decoying before returning to the hotel for breakfast, with evenings spent out for duck flighting. The experience welcomes both beginners and experienced shots, with dogs also welcome.

Taking place from 14–18 October 2026, this promises to be a fantastic few days of shooting, countryside, camaraderie and good company, hosted by two award-winning names in Scottish country sport tourism.

A limited number of exceptional driven shooting days are available with Eskdale Shooting Services this season, offering the opportunity to experience some of the finest Pheasant and Partridge shooting in the Scottish Borders.
