Our heavily depleted Reserves side lost 3-0 at home to Bryansburn Rangers Football Club Reserves yesterday in their first game of the season. Missing no fewer than 9 players it was looking unlikely that we would even be able to field a team for this game with so many unavailable. Credit must go to the commitee members,Members and Management who all stuck the boots on yesterday to make sure we fielded for the game it was brilliant to see everyone at the club come together to get through a difficult weekend. Our Reserves were competitive through out the game against a really good side in Bryansburn.

MOTM: Yesterday's MOTM yesterday for the reserves was our assistant Coach Robert Po***ck who stuck on the gloves and done nets making some great saves 👏

With numerous players due back in there will be better days ahead no doubt.

We wish Bryansburn well and will see them again later in the season 🤝

Yesterday our first team travelled to face high flying Killyleagh YC in the Toalsbet Steel and Sons Cup. Killyleagh showed their quality from the first whistle and punished us for a slow start as they raced into a 3 goal lead with only 20 minutes on the clock. Our lads then grew into the game and started to create chances hitting the post and playing some nice football. It went into half time at 3-0. We came out a much better side in the second half and pulled a goal back on 53 minutes through our skipper Ayrton Travers. Just when it looked like we could build momentum and get back into the game Killyleagh scored another in the 60th minute to go 4-1 ahead. Our lads could have easily given up but they kept going and in the 74th minute John Shaw scored to make it 4-2. The belief was growing that there was a chance we could claw something back and in the 81st minute Ethan Travers scored to make it 4-3. We pushed to try and find the equaliser in the dying moments but unfortunately just ran out of time.

A really positive performance away to quality opposition will only stand us in good stead for the season ahead.

We would like to wish Killyleagh the very best of luck in the next round and we thank them for their hospitality on the day 🤝❤️🖤

Our first team have another away game next weekend as they travel to face Portaferry Rovers ⚽️

This afternoon our first team travelled over to East Belfast to face 1 of the league favourites in Shorts at Aircraft Park.

Still missing 3 or 4 of our regular starters today manager Glenn Dorrian got to see some players playing in posistions they wouldn't normally be playing to cover the missing personell.

On what was a very wet afternoon the home sides pitch was in great condition and it allowed for an entertaining game of football. There wasn't much between the 2 sides in the opening half hour but on 36 minutes Shorts took the lead when their player finished well into bottom corner of the net. There wasn't really much else happened in the first period and the game went in at halftime 1-0.

In the second period the home side started fast creating a few chances on our goal. On 60 minutes it was 2-0 to the home side when their player again finished well past our keeper W***y.
Our management then made a tactical change to try and get us back into the game and it paid off when our skipper Ayrton Travers finished well after a nice pass through to him on 72 minutes. We then pushed to try and get the equaliser but on 80 minutes we conceded a penalty which was brilliantly saved by our keeper. Unfortunately only a minute later we fell asleep at the back and Shorts took a 3-1 lead with another fine finish. Our lads could have give up at this point but they kept on pushing and in the 89th Bobby Irwin scored a great goal to make the final few minutes very interesting indeed. As the home side looked to see out the game we managed to push forward and from outside the box Bobby unleashed a sensational left footed volley into the net to send the travelling support wild and bring the game back to 3-3. Both teams went for it in the final minute or 2 but the game finished 3-3.

With only 4 minutes left on the clock and being 3-1 down today it was a brilliant hard fought point to take back up the road against quality opposition. Alot of positives to take from today's game as we move forward.

With players due back over the next few weeks we are hopeful that we can kick on from today's result.

We wish Shorts well and will see them again at Suffolk Park later in the season 🤝
