Hexham regatta was very successful for Hild Bede Boat Club, with two squads coming away with medals!
In div 2, the womens 2V won their first race against St Aidens college, and had such a close race against Collingwood that they had to rerow, sadly losing by 1 length.
The Nov men won their first race against Collingwood by 3 lengths, losing against Hatfield in the semi-finals.
The mixed 8+ won their first race against Van Mildert by 3 lengths, going on to win against Grey college in the final to win themselves a medal!
The mens 4+ won their first race against Trevelyan College easily, going on to beat Queen Elizabeth High School in the semi-final. They beat Hatfield by 1 length in the final, winning the event!! This was the first time the boys had won an event, and they have now become one with their medals.
This was a very successful day for Hild Bede, and with Durham Regatta right around the corner it is looking very promising! 🩵

A few weeks ago, the senior women took a trip down to London to compete in Wehorr. The crew trained hard for this race and showed significant improvement as a result. It was a tough race, but we stayed strong throughout really demonstrating our determination as a squad. It was a great experience for everyone involved, with 8 out of the 9 members of the crew never having raced on the tideway before. We can’t wait for some more strong performances in regatta season!

DERWENTWATER 🔥🔥
The W 1st 8+ woke up bright and early to race in division 1 and rowed beatifully, taking the course by storm. The crew has improved so much since the start of this term and the way that we rowed really demonstrated that. It was great practice for WEHoRR on Saturday, we are prepped and ready to smash it! The W 3rd 4+ then raced in division 2, by that time the wind had picked up and it was a little wavy. The girls battled the conditions valiantly and finished with a solid time. Overall the senior women had a lovely day, the sum was out and the scenery was stunning. Beats the Tyne any day!
For the men, success also occurred, with the double coming out victorious in their race. The 1V had a to race in a different boat on the day to the one they trained it yet still recorded a good time, especially with an unusual rigging style. The 2V were only a minute slower and performed very well. Catch me if you Cam also raced, recording a great time as the 22 crew got another race together under their belts.
The mixed 4+ were also a great success, including beating the Men's top 4!
