Follow twenty-eight days in the life of eighteen-year-old Patrick, as a mysterious wooden box helps him control his destiny, for better or for worse.
February is cursed. Or so eighteen-year-old Patrick believes. As his life fills with mock exams, cross country races, a bully and an unrequited crush, it looks as if the next four weeks will be nothing but dreary. But when he stumbles across a Fatecube – a box with the alleged ability to predict one’s destiny – he’s able to take control of his day-to-day struggles; dodging illnesses, winning competitions and earning the attention of the girl he likes. Fate has its own plans, however, and Patrick’s meddling soon has dire consequences.
A coming-of-age tale with fantastical elements, confronting our struggles of grief, identity, and the desire for control in a chaotic universe.

The Pillowman opens at the Assembly Rooms Theatre on the 3rd of November. Get tickets here: https://www.theassemblyroomstheatre.org/whats-on/
A black comedy set in a totalitarian police state, in which a writer known for his dark, gruesome stories has been called in for questioning for their connection to the murders of three local children.
This brutal dark comedy from Martin McDonagh, the master of the horror-comedy, poses unanswerable questions: Can stories hold the power to cause atrocities? Where is the line between truth and fairy tale? Is a life of horror worth living at all? Drawing on inspiration as diverse as Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Kafka, and Antonin Artaud, The Pillowman is a dark, twisty, and utterly unforgettable masterpiece from one of Ireland’s most treasured writers.
