🌅 U19 National Cup – That’s a wrap for 2025

As the sun sets over the clubhouse, it also sets on our National Cup campaign for this year.

A strong South Northumberland side came out on top tonight, following the frustration of an abandoned first fixture.

But there was a shining light – and what a highlight it was 🌟
👏 Lucy Green brought up her maiden Durham City 50, scoring at better than a run a ball – a moment that will live long in the memory and a true reflection of the talent in this group.

It wasn’t to be in 2025…
But we go again in 2026 🔁💙💛

🏏 Women’s 1st XI – National Cup North Pool Semi-Final

Today we came up short against a very well-drilled Sessay side in the semi-final of the national cup. Naturally, it stings – and it should. That’s what competing at this level feels like.

But step back for a moment.

Five years ago, we struggled to compete locally. Today, we’re playing regionally in the latter stages of a national competition. That’s not just progress – it’s a transformation.

This team is a work in progress…
But make no mistake – our progress is exceptional 💪💛💙

Gritty Win Under Damp Skies for the Women’s 1st XI

Last night, our Women’s 1st Team took on Seaham Harbour at Green Lane in tricky, rain-affected conditions.

Losing the toss and put into the field, we stuck to our task brilliantly. A solid opening spell from Alex J claimed the first wicket, and the bowling was shared well across the team — bookended by a superb spell from Anna D:
3 overs, 2 maidens, 1 run, 1 wicket!

Good fielding backed up the effort and restricted Seaham to 85 from their 20 overs.

With a damp outfield and boundaries hard to come by, we reshuffled the order and got off to a steady start through Poppy P and AJ. Poppy anchored the chase with 33, and Laura H saw us home with a composed 24 not out, crossing the line with 10 balls to spare.

A proper team effort — hard work, patience, and determination getting the job done. Proof we can grind out a win when we need to!

U13s Battle Hard at Palmers Close

Our very young U13s side took on a strong combined Chester-le-Street/Sacriston team — affectionately known as Cheggers — tonight at Palmers Close.

Batting first, we set a target for them to chase and knew we’d need to be sharp in the field to stay in the contest.

We gave it a real go — taking our chances — but Cheggers were just too strong on the night.

A valiant effort from a developing group still finding their feet in hard ball cricket. Proud of their spirit and progress!

Another Team Performance, Another Win!

Durham City Cricket Club Women’s 1st XI put in another fantastic all-round display tonight to set and defend a strong total against Gateshead Fell.

A captain’s knock from Zaina A, finishing unbeaten on 64, laid the platform, with valuable contributions from Poppy P (35) and Alex J (15) helping us post a solid total.

With the ball, we were on it from the very first over — piling on the pressure with dot balls and sharing the wickets. Erika N starred with a brilliant 4-wicket haul!

A textbook example of how good bowling, sharp fielding and energy in the field creates scoreboard pressure — and a well-earned 35-run win.

This is some team!

U11 Hardball Girls vs Sacriston

A tough evening for our U11 girls who just didn’t quite fire tonight, falling to defeat against a well-organised Sacriston side. We were just a bit off the pace with our running, fielding, and energy.

But there was a real shining light — 8-year-old hardball debutant Olivia D, who took two wickets and threw herself into everything in the field.

A brilliant performance full of heart — remember the name!

U13s Show Grit Against Burnopfield

Our very young U13s side took on a well-drilled and pacey Burnopfield outfit this afternoon at Palmers Close.

We bowled with discipline and took five wickets, backed up by sharp fielding that helped restrict their scoring.

Our openers showed great bravery seeing off the Burnopfield pace attack, but we just couldn’t keep up with the run rate — falling short by 34 runs.

This is a young squad playing well above their years, showing real courage, teamwork, and a love for the game. The progress is exciting!
