Heads of the River 2022
This year HCBC sent crews down to London for both the Women’s Head of the River (12/03/22) and Men’s Head of the River (26/03/22).
Both crews did fantastically competing with a very different set of conditions. Whilst the men were blessed with 18 degrees and mostly flat water, the women battled through some serious chop and wind but both crews made it over the line safely.
WEHoRR: 5th fastest Durham college, 193rd overall.
HoRR: 2nd fastest Durham College, 137th overall.
Both crews also faced some near disasters: the women saw 3 seat dislocate a finger and a shoulder mid-race but still managed to finish with all 8 rowing across the line, and the men nearly didn’t make it onto the water following the 6 seat footplate falling out somewhere on the M1 between Durham and London! Despite this both crews really did the college proud.
Congratulations to all who raced and thanks for all the support at both races with plenty of cheering on from the side lines 🏆💪🍾
Make sure you are following on Instagram for lots of lovely photos of the club in action.

Please take a moment to read this post and consider donating to help our friends at VMBC to support the rebuilding of their Boat House. As a club HCBC will be doing all it can to facilitate their speedy return to the water next term but helping them raise some immediate funds is a great place to start.
