๐Ÿ A Fantastic Morning for the Brandon Boars Maroon sides at Spennymoor! ๐Ÿ

It was another brilliant morning for Brandon CC Juniors, with both our Under 11 Maroons and Under 9s producing outstanding performances to continue their unbeaten starts to the season.

๐Ÿ Under 11 Maroons

The Under 11 Maroons delivered arguably their best all-round performance of the season, defeating Spennymoor by a massive 145 runs.

Batting first, Brandon posted an impressive 125-2 from their 16 overs, with contributions right throughout the batting order. Noah top-scored with 17, Edward added 16, Zack struck 15, Charlie made 12 and James contributed 9. The innings was built on positive cricket, excellent running between the wickets and some superb stroke play from all the players.

The bowlers then took complete control, restricting Spennymoor to just 25 runs while taking all 11 wickets available. Edward led the attack with outstanding figures of 3 wickets for just 2 runs, while Reuben and Ralph both claimed 2 wickets. Zack, Sophia and Noah also got amongst the wickets, helping Brandon record an incredible 8 maiden overs.

The fielding was equally impressive, with the highlight of the match coming from Zack's brilliant one-handed catch, a moment that had teammates, coaches and spectators applauding.

Most pleasing of all was the way every player contributed. The team continues to grow in confidence, gain valuable experience and play the game in the right manner. Their unbeaten run remains intact.

# # # ๐Ÿ Under 9s

The Under 9s followed up with another excellent performance to maintain their own unbeaten season.

After electing to bowl first, the Boars came out on full attack mode. Thomas got things started by smashing the stumps and setting the tone for a superb bowling display from the whole team. Every player contributed in the field, showing great energy, enthusiasm and teamwork.

With the bat, the boys continued their aggressive approach. James, Thomas and debutant George all cleared the boundary with powerful sixes, while the rest of the team batted positively and kept the scoreboard ticking over.

It was another outstanding all-round performance from a group that continues to improve every week and play with great spirit and enjoyment.

๐Ÿ‘ A huge well done to all players, coaches, volunteers and parents. The progress being made across the junior section is fantastic to see.

๐Ÿ“ข Match reports from our two Gold teams at Raby Castle and our Under 11 Girls team will follow shortly.

What a day and night at Brandon Cricket Club! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽถ

From first ball to last song, the club was absolutely buzzing.

Earlier in the day, our 2nd XI treated supporters to a thrilling victory in a match that went right down to the wire. A special mention goes to some of our juniors who played very well today including one of our younger ones, Thom, who produced a superb half-century and showed exactly why the future of the club is in safe hands.

As the cricket was being played, the ground was transformed around us by an incredible events team preparing for tomorrow's six-a-side competition. With 15 marquees, catering vans and activity across the ground, the club looked spectacular and set the stage for an unforgettable weekend.

Then came the evening...

The Take That tribute act, organised by our Junior Section, packed the clubhouse with members, families, friends and supporters. There was fantastic music, plenty of dancing, smiling faces everywhere and an atmosphere that simply got better as the night went on. The packed clubhouse also enjoyed a nail-biting Champions League Final, adding even more excitement to an already memorable day.

Most importantly, every ticket sold and every drink bought helps support the future of Brandon Cricket Club through our thriving junior section. We are incredibly grateful for the amazing support shown by everyone who attended. The turnout was phenomenal and demonstrates just how much people value what we're building at the club.

A huge thank you must go to our incredible bar staff who worked tirelessly throughout the day and evening. The queue never seemed to stop, yet they kept everyone served with a smile. Rumour has it more shots were sold tonight than on any other day of the year! ๐Ÿป๐Ÿฅƒ

Days like this remind us how fortunate we are to be part of such a fantastic club. On the field, off the field, with our juniors, seniors, volunteers, sponsors and supporters all pulling together, Brandon Cricket Club is in a really strong position.

And if the rumours are true, there could be another big event coming in July... ๐Ÿ‘€

If you missed this one, make sure you don't miss the next.

Thank you all for your support. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ

๐Ÿ Match Report โ€” Brandon U13 vs Tudhoe U13

The visitors won the toss and chose to bat first โ€” something we need to get used to given our strong record when setting totals. Brandon hit the field with real energy, every bowler/fielder playing a part in restricting Tudhoe to 66โ€‘8 from 20 overs.

Thom Burnham led the way with a 1-4, plus two catches and a runโ€‘out. Charlie Wallace joined the action late on, bowling fast and straight to claim 2โ€‘6.

Chasing a modest target, Harry Forbesโ€‘Hunt opened with Charlie Wallace, whose confidence shone despite still playing U11s. Harry took charge, racing to another 30 retirement (21 balls). Thom returned to finish the job in style with 22 not out (13 balls).

Another composed performance โ€” and the unbeaten run continues.

A fantastic morning for our U11 Maroons away at Hunwick against what is probably the toughest opposition theyโ€™ll face this season so far. In very tough heat, the kids produced an outstanding all-round performance to come away with a brilliant 11-run victory.

Batting first, Brandon posted 79-4 from 16 overs with some important contributions throughout the innings. Edward Jones top scored with a superb 17 from 13 balls, while Charlie Wallace added a valuable 10. Every pair worked hard for each other and kept the scoreboard moving against a very good bowling attack.

The biggest difference today though was the attitude, energy and discipline in the field. The bowling effort was exceptional from start to finish, with the whole team stepping up and applying pressure. Edward Jones, Reuben Herbert and James Kelley all picked up wickets, while the fielding backed it up brilliantly in difficult conditions.

Special mention to Reuben Herbert for claiming his first wicket for Brandon โ€” hopefully the first of many ๐Ÿ‘

As coaches, we couldnโ€™t be prouder of the kids today. The effort, teamwork and attitude were first class and the standard is now set going forward. If they continue to work and compete like that, theyโ€™ll be a match for anyone.

Well done everyone ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ

Nominees from the U9s game and Peterโ€™s report on the Golds will follow later.

What a fantastic evening at Brandon CC last night. ๐Ÿ

The club was absolutely packed with cricket being played everywhere you looked. From All Stars cricket, with some children picking up a bat for the very first time, right through to Under 9โ€™s, 11โ€™s, 13โ€™s and 15โ€™s training sessions, there were smiles all around and close to 100 people involved in cricket across the night.

Alongside the junior sessions, our 2nd XI took on a strong Coundon side in the cup, and it was brilliant to see so many players in the senior team who have progressed through Brandonโ€™s junior setup over the years. It shows there is a genuine pathway at the club for young cricketers coming through the programme.

The atmosphere around the club was exactly what community cricket is all about with so many families enjoying the sunshine, hot food being served, beers flowing, kids laughing and playing, and so many people giving up their time to help make it all happen.

A huge thank you to all of our coaches, volunteers, parents and supporters. The club continues to grow because of people like you, and itโ€™s been brilliant to see so many new faces stepping forward to help.

Thereโ€™s always room for more volunteers, so if youโ€™d like to get involved in any way, please speak to someone at the club.

Great cricket. Great people. Great community spirit. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค Brandon Cricket Club & Brandon Sports Club
