Today the First XI are at home against Stocksfield CC First XI in the Cawston Press Village Cup.

The National Village Cup is inextricably linked with the English summer and has been ever since its conception in 1972. Administered by The Cricketer, this summer-long knockout tournament celebrates the grassroots game at its rural heart.

It is the biggest amateur cricket competition in the world and sees in excess of 400 clubs from all corners of England, Scotland and Wales battle for the chance to ‘live the dream’ by playing on the hallowed turf in a showcase Lord’s final.

Tough Day at the office for both senior sides at the weekend-

The first XI fell just short of chasing a low score on a tricky pitch, Overall a cracking game against a very good side in Horden CC.

The second XI suffered a defeat against the experienced side in Belmont CC.

Tough defeats for both sides but very early on in the season with lots to play for.
