Like many things, recognising & connecting to JOY is a moment by moment practice. And once you see that it’s an inside job, you can’t unsee it. The best thing about coming to this realisation is that you stop relying on people, places & things to make you happy, to bring you joy.
A yoga teacher I once knew, gave me this reading about 10 years ago & honestly, it’s probably one of the most popular pieces I’ve used in class…
I Have Arrived: We believe that happiness is possible only in the future. That is why the practice “I have arrived” is very important. The realisation that we have already arrived, that we don’t have to travel any further, that we are already here, can give us peace and joy. The conditions for our happiness are already sufficient. We only need to allow ourselves to be in the present moment, and we will be able to touch them.
Remind yourself when life gets tough - which will inevitably happen - that the joy is always there. You have the choice (& it’s a practice so it’s hard when you first begin) to change your thoughts & tune in to the feeling of joy.
I’m by no means perfect at remembering this, but I do my best to come back to joy as quickly & often as I can. Because life is short & why wouldn’t I want to be full of joy as I move through my day?
Would love to know your thoughts on this & how easy you find it to see & feel the joy in your life.
Loving you❤️🤩🙏🏼
