Hi folks just a wee post to make it known that although the fishery isn't open to the public at present, there is somebody on site everyday. The site is monitored 24hrs a day by CCTV which can be viewed remotely and also alerts us to any movement within the fishery grounds. If anyone is found to be trespassing the police will be called immediately.

Good morning folks. Unfortunately we've had to make the difficult decision to close the fishery. We'd like to thank all of those who supported us during our time at HCF.

Brian Boyle has been at it yet again with the fab and buzzers. We here at HCF hope his chamois worms are enjoying their retirement 😅🎣

With all the beautiful warm weather that we are been treated to, the trout will be found tight on the bottom of the pond in the deeper areas during the day. Once the sun gets lower in the sky and the temperature drops, they'll start moving up in the water, and as Brian has shown on is last few visits, they will start taking buzzers, and all going well, should be taking off the surface too 🎣

On Saturday I had a cat for a wee ½hr. I armed with 3 buzzers on a 12ft slow tip. I was pretty much fishing them static, allowing what little breeze there was to do most of the work and allow them to get right down. I would give them a long pull every now and again to straighten out the bow in my line and lift the buzzers back up in the water again. After a few very tentative offers, the bow in my fly line slowly straightened and I was into a nice blue. . Whilst I was removing my olive buzzer, the trout spat out a load of bloodworm. This indicates to me that although there's not been many fish seen during the day just now, they are still feeding, they're just rooting about in the peat at the bottom of the pond to find their food. So get get tying those apps worms and bloodworm patterns to optimise your chances of netting some sun-shy fish 🪱🎣

Scott Boyle is up with his carer Billy, enjoying the warm weather. He might be up against it in these bright conditions but he's hoping to out-do his Dad Brian who landed a cracking +5lb broonie last week 🎣

We've got some unseasonably beautiful, warm sunny summertime weather forecast over the next few days. Usually once the schools finish up, we get 40 days and 40 nights of wind and rain😅. With this in mind, to give yourself the best chance of sport. I'd suggest coming first thing in the morning or fish in the evening when the sun isn't as high in the sky. During the day the fish will be taking refuge in the deeper, cooler and more oxygen rich water. That isn't to say you won't catch during the day. Fishing low and slow with Intermediate lines or bungs fished between 6-9ft will be your best bet for tempting those sun-shy fish 🎣

Open until 11pm 🎣

Time to look out your Butterfly patterns🦋❗️

They're absolutely everywhere up here today. I dont think I've ever seen as many as I've already seen today. 🦋

Has anyone ever witnessed a trout take a butterfly before?🦋🐟🎣

And if so, does anybody have any good tortoise shell Buttererfly patterns?🎣

Beautiful morning here today. There's fish rising at the edge of the ripple. Once the sun gets up lures fished low and slow are getting the most success. Once the clouds roll in dries, Crunchers and buzzers are the way to go 🎣

We're open until 11pm 🎣
