After a couple of false starts the juniors completed a brisk warmup consisting of some jogging, side stepping, press-ups, sit-ups, stretching and their breakfalls before a stop for a quick drink. The first part of this week’s session took the form of Tach-Waza randori (standing techniques). Each round lasted about four minutes so after five rounds they were really warmed up. Also to get them thinking they were not allowed to take a hold over the shoulder or around the neck/across the shoulders, pushing them to use more original grips. Another swift water stop before the second part which focused on Osaekomi-Waza randori, employing all the pinning and escaping techniques they know. The juniors completed their session with a game of stuck in the mud.
The senior group was very much reduced, work and illness/injury the main culprit. After warming up the session was going to take the form of a round robin of randori but five minutes in a blood injury curtailed the session. Hopefully all will be well next week.
A really good junior session with everyone working to their maximum and producing some good judo.
We look forward to seeing everyone next week.
