Established in 1860, ERC is one of the oldest coastal rowing clubs in the UK. We are a coastal rowing club open to complete beginners to experienced rowers.

Summer training is held at the club on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00pm. Throughout the year we train on Sundays either at the club or at the Wallers Haven river near Pevensey. In the summer we race across the south coast against other coastal clubs. We race over a 2000 meter course with a turn half way. Come on down if you want to try a new sport in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, or if you want to get back into an old loved sport. All are welcome!

It is with sadness that we have recently heard the news that a former member of Eastbourne Rowing Club, Pete Waters, died on 30th June 2026 after a short illness. Pete was a very active and valued member of the club in the 1950s and 1960s, and was club secretary for a while in the late 1960s.
Pete was quite a character within the club, and known for his willingness to 'go for a pint' after a training session or a regatta, and finish that off with a curry at the Taj Mahal on Seaside! For those that knew him, they will have fond memories.
Pete's funeral is on Friday the 14th August, at 1.30pm, at Surrey and Sussex Crematorium. Balcombe Rd, Crawley RH10 3NQ, and the Wake afterwards is at the Roebuck Hotel, Wych Cross, Forest Row, RH18 5JL.
Those members and ex-members of the club who knew him are welcome to come along and remember their good times with Pete. RIP.
