The Hermitage will be open this Saturday 25th April from 2pm. There will be tea/coffee and home made cakes (cash only). A great opportunity to see inside this lovely Georgian Folly. Plenty of historical details and fascinating photos to look through.
All funds go towards the Park, Gardens and Hermitage.

Spring is here and the first opening of The Hermitage (a Georgian folly, pictured) in Manor Gardens (WhatThreeWords location ///tricks.barks.ended) of the 2026 Season is Saturday, 28th March from 2pm.
Come along and enjoy a lovely cuppa and cake in the beautiful surroundings of the trees in blossom and the Formal Garden. Meet up with friends old and new, see inside The Hermitage and learn about the fascinating history of the Gardens and Park.
Cash only please. All proceeds from The Hermitage openings (on the last Saturday of every month from March to October inclusive) go towards the upkeep of The Hermitage and Manor Gardens.

Spring seems to have sprung today and the volunteers have been taking full advantage! Jobs tackled have been a good old clear out and clean up of The Hermitage (right hand image) ahead of the regular 'last Saturday in the month' openings starting in March, and checking over the flower beds and borders (left hand image) ahead of the gardening sessions commencing next Tuesday. Hello everyone,
The Hermitage in Manor Gardens (what3words location ///tricks.barks.ended) will be open this Saturday 29th November from 2pm. This is an extra (and last for 2025) chance to come along and enjoy a warming cuppa and home made cake as we were not able to open The Hermitage in October. Also an opportunity to see inside The Hermitage and find out about the fascinating history of the area.

Hello everyone,
Just to let you know that, due to a Social Evening being hosted by the Friends at The Manor House on Sunday, 26th October, The Hermitage will not be open on Saturday, 25th October. We regret this and it is because our volunteers cannot commit to two events in a weekend.
However, due to The Hermitage openings being so very successful during the Summer months this year, we propose that The Hermitage will be open on the last Saturday of the month during the Winter months too, weather permitting. These openings will be advertised in the usual way via the website, here on Facebook and by signage in the Gardens and Park. So do come along and support us and enjoy a lovely hot cuppa and a delicious slice of cake!

Hello everyone! Regrettably, due to volunteers' holidays, The Hermitage will not be open this Saturday 26th July. We are very sorry about this, but The Hermitage will be open as usual on Saturday 30th August at 2pm for viewing inside and enjoying cuppas and cakes overlooking the lovely Formal Garden.
You may already know, but there is now a public toilet (under the Community Toilet Scheme run by the Council) available at Gingerbread Kitchen in Gildredge Park. At last and it's free! This is great news of course with a lot of work going on in the background to bring it to be and we thank all those involved. For more info re opening times etc., the toilet is on the Council's list of Community toilets (on their website) and is no.20.

What a successful Open Hermitage event we had last Saturday! Thank you so much to all of you who supported us in every way: by coming along, helping, delicious cuppas and cake, plants for sale and of course a chance to see all on display and inside The Hermitage itself. We raised a wonderful £107 for the funds too! Next Hermitage opening is on Saturday, 28th June from 2pm. Below is a snap of The Hermitage (on right) overlooking the Formal Garden in Manor Gardens. Both The Hermitage and the Gardens are maintained by the Friends.
