Here's a reminder that a unique cycling World Championship returns to Eastbourne tomorrow

This Sunday Morning 9/8/26 from 9am

We have two Hillclimbs on closed roads along the seafront starting from Western Lawns opposite the Grand Hotel up Dukes Drive, Upper Dukes Drive and Beachy Head Road finishing by the car park by Cadence Cafe.

At 9am are the regular road race bikes (similar participants to our Butts Lane Hillclimb we run every October) and then the main event The Penny Farthings start at 10am. We are expecting to reopen the roads by 11.30am. In the past we have tried to keep the road open but as the event has grown the council have decided to close the road to traffic to ensure safety for the participants and the thousands of spectators this event is attracting.

We’re co-hosting the support race for the World Championship Penny Farthing Hill Climb on Sunday 9th August. Road bikes off at around 9am with the Pennies starting at 10am. Link in bio.

Planned ride for tomorrow . 8:00 Start from Polegate Station. It takes in Devil’s D**e, a roll through Brighton and probably a coffee along Madeira Drive.

Potential new members are welcome to turn up and join the ride. Providing you're ok with the distance then you won't be dropped!

You may want to save your legs for Sunday's Spring Classic but Marcel will be riding on Saturday to Mamoosh in Newhaven expecting to get there around 11:15. Some light gravel along Egret's way and through Friston forest

Online entries are closed for Sunday's Spring Classic, but you're welcome to sign up on the day. We'll be ready for you at 7am, so come along, sign up, grab a coffee and maybe a bacon roll before the ride!

Saturday Club rides.

Planning a gentler ride for tomorrow. Meet Eastbourne pier at 9:00 and roll over to Bexhill to meet up with HSLCC riders for 10:00. Meet up is by Bexhill War Memorial opposite Kerry's on seafront. Sociable ride heads back Westwards inland ending usually at Chilley Farm or similar. Hopefully weather will be OK.
