Both our Town teams did well today in the heat and had close matches but no wins. There’s always next year!

Congratulations to Mandy & Nora in round one of the Town Pairs. They won 16-23 but it was 16 all at the 16th end! Exciting stuff 😬

It is with great sadness that we said our final farewell yesterday to our ex-captain, Gill Croome. Gill was a much loved and valued member of St John’s and will be very sorely missed. Over 20 members, past and present, attended her funeral, demonstrating just how fondly people felt about her, and her husband Roy. 

Well done to Gary for winning the John Dean tournament, and to Gary & Nora being runners up in the mixed pairs.
As Gary missed our presentation lunch in Nov 2025, the presentation was made today during a Triples League match.

Bowls at The Helen Garden. This year is the 90th anniversary of St John’s Bowling Club playing bowls at the most scenic bowling green on the south coast if not the whole of the UK. This thriving friendly club is open to all Meads residents and is holding a free taster session for anyone wishing to have a go on Bank Holiday Monday 4th May from 11am -1pm. Come along, refreshments will be provided plus all the equipment and coaching necessary. Playing bowls especially in this superb location is good for your social life and a positive way to sustain a healthy and active lifestyle. So, give it a go.
