St. John’s Meads Bowling Club, Eastbourne

We enjoyed a great mixed pairs competition today. Well done to all the teams and especially to Frank & Shirley and Barbara & Peter who will play against each other on our finals day. Great to have some of our newest members join in today too.

Very sadly, last Saturday, we suddenly lost one of St. John’s most loved members, Chris Tyler. Chris and her late husband, Jim, had been loyal members for many years. (Chris is 2nd on the left in this photo from 2024.) She will be sorely missed by us all.

Many congratulations to our Men’s Evening League who have won the Eastbourne division 2 this season. They are now promoted to division 1 for next season. 👏👏👏

Our fab four today at Saffrons after a narrow loss in the Ladies Town Fours competition. You all played really well and did us proud!

Our club secretary, Barbara, modelling one of our new benches. There are six around the green now to replace the old, wooden ones. Many thanks to club member, Roy, for putting them together and fixing them in place.

Some photos from our 90th anniversary cream tea roll up today. What a great afternoon, despite the rain!

Both our Town teams did well today in the heat and had close matches but no wins. There’s always next year!
