What a day for our WWCBA Juniors at the 2026 British Parks Junior 5-Side Championship at Ye Olde Knowle!

A huge thank you to Warwickshire Parks British Parks Crown Green Bowling Association, and everyone at Ye Olde Knowle Bowling Club for hosting such a fantastic event. Superb greens, great organisation and wonderful late-September sunshine made it a brilliant day for junior bowls.

Warwickshire Bears

Managed by Paul Whitcombe, our Bears had an outstanding competition.

They topped their group, including a fantastic 3–2 victory over Yorkshire A, before beating North Shropshire C 5–0 in the semi-final to reach the Main Final.

The final saw Yorkshire A take the honours 4–1, but getting to another major final is a tremendous achievement for our young team.

Paul said, Well done Jack, Ava, Will, Sophie and Lincoln! They played tremendous to reach the final and just fell short to a strong Yorkshire team. Really great to see how many good young players we have coming through. Thank you for all the support

Warwickshire Pears

Our Development Squad youngsters also had a brilliant experience.

Tom, Eleanor, Elijah, George and Sebastian showed fantastic team spirit throughout the day. Starting with a player short and managing until Sebastian arrived from his football match, they supported each other, marked cards and thoroughly embraced the experience.

Managed by Deryck Cather, with Chairman Jim Drain stepping in for the final game, the Pears finished a very creditable 7th place.

Deryck summed it up perfectly:

“The group today of Tom, Eleanor, George, Elijah and Seb were all terrific throughout and full credit to you all.”

A special thank you to all the parents and families who continue to support our juniors. As Phil Ellett said:

“Without you, we can't get our juniors playing.”

That support is helping build the next generation of Warwickshire bowlers.

The future of WWCBA junior bowls is looking very bright!

And we're not finished yet… the BP Under-25s Merit is still to come! 👀
