🌊 Sea Swimming isn’t the same as pool swimming.

🚩 Know Your Flags
⛔️ Red — No swimming/bathing at all
⚠️ Orange windsock — Strong winds
✅️ Red & Yellow — Lifeguarded zone. Swim only between them.

👶 Kids + Water = You Stay Close! Never let children enter the sea alone. Even knee‑deep.

🌊 Sea & River vs Pool
Currents pull you sideways or out.
Tides rise fast.
Cold water shock hits instantly.
Hidden hazards you can’t see.

🚨 If an Emergency Happens:

* Call 999 and ask for Coastguard.
* Raise the alarm — shout for help, alert lifeguards immediately.
* Don’t enter the water!! Most drownings happen when someone tries to rescue another person.
* Use flotation — throw a buoy, board, or anything that floats.
* Tell them to float — encourage the casualty to lie back, spread arms and legs, and keep calm.
* Keep eyes on them — point to their location and guide rescuers in.

It's Drowning Prevention Week, and our theme this week is Water Safety. 🛟

Throughout the week, we'll be helping our swimmers build important lifesaving skills and sharing simple tips that can help keep children safe in and around water.

Because learning to swim is about more than strokes...it's about confidence, awareness and staying safe. 💜

🌟🌟STAR OF THE MONTH🌟🌟

I am absolutely delighted to announce our May Star of the Month for Edinburgh as the lovely Hana.

This month, Hana has gone above and beyond to support the whole team, jumping in to cover lessons, reception, and helping out wherever she can.

Her swimmers have been loving her themed lessons, progressing well under her technical watch!

Hana always brings a level of professionalism, support, care and compassion to her swimmers, striving to provide the best environment for them to grow and develop to the best of their ability. Her lesson planning and progress updates reflecting her high standards and work ethic.

She is a true asset to our team at Edinburgh. We are lucky to have you, Hana! Thanks for all your hard work!

We’d like to give a special congratulations to Rufus, April’s Star of the Month 🌟

Rufus always helps to step in and deliver lessons, which is hugely appreciated and makes a real difference to the rest of the team. Whether he’s teaching, supporting on reception, or stepping in at short notice, he’s always willing to help wherever he’s needed.

He brings energy and enthusiasm to his lessons, using the theme brilliantly to keep classes engaging and fun for swimmers. He is always helping to tidy up before and after sessions, covering on reception, and even filling up water bottles when needed (which never goes unnoticed!).

Thank you for everything you do, your hard work and attitude are genuinely appreciated. 🥳

Easter is fast approaching, so we just wanted to share an update about our opening hours over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend 💜
The great news is that we won't have any closures, so your lessons will all continue as usual!

We hope you enjoy the long weekend and we can't wait to see everyone in the pool! 🎉

Winner is Rhianna 🎉💜

Rhianna has been a huge asset to the team this month, supporting with development, cover and focusing on progression of swimmers.

She comes prepared for every lesson with her outstanding plans and ideas, to give the swimmers the best 30 mins of their week.

Her energy, dedication, compassion and patience is amazing. Always going the extra mile to explain technique in interesting and relatable ways.

A huge congratulations to Jamie, our Team Member Star of the Month! Jamie has been recognised for delivering outstanding swimming lessons and fantastic engagement that keeps swimmers confident, motivated, and having fun in the pool. Always smiling and eager to learn and improve, he’s a true team player and a firm favourite with both parents and swimmers alike. We’re incredibly lucky to have him on our team 💙🏊‍♂️⭐️
