Joe - 10 months of service

Joe started his journey with us at Newhaven through the social enterprise partnered with David Lloyd, who helps those struggling by giving them barista training ☕️

When Joe first moved to Edinburgh he didn’t know anyone and was struggling to find a job, through this initiative Joe has said that working at David Lloyd has given him a brand new start in life and he has really enjoyed his time working here so far. He feels comfortable at work and see’s the rest of the team like friends and family.

Only 6 months after starting with us, Joe was awarded the passion to serve award for his genuine enthusiasm and the amazing energy he brings every day which was absolutely well deserved 🤩👏🏼

We are so proud of how far Joe has come and cannot wait to see more of him in the clubroom 🙌🏼

This week, we’re celebrating the amazing people who keep our club running every single day 🙌🏼

Phyllis – 19 years of service (20 in August!)

Phyllis was a member when the club first opened in 1999 as Next Generation, before becoming a staff member in 2006. Her husband thought she wouldn’t last 2 weeks… and here she is almost 20 years later! 👏🏼Since then, she has been an integral part of the team, welcoming our members with a smile and fantastic service no matter the time of day. Phyllis is appreciated by both team and members alike, the club really wouldn’t be the same without her 🤩

Ross – 4 years of service

Ross has been at Newhaven for just over a year, joining us from Corstorphine. During his time, he’s done everything from lifeguarding, reception and clubroom. Originally joining as Operations Manager, Ross took on the Health & Safety Manager role in October, where he has truly excelled - achieving a fantastic audit score of 97.4% 🏅 His impact on the club has been fantastic, he creates a great atmosphere everyday and is truly valued by both team and members 🙌🏼

This week, we celebrate the heart of our club — our incredible team ❤️

Early starts and late finishes, training on the gym floor to keeping you safe in the pool, a friendly welcome at reception, keeping your little ones entertained, the buzz of the clubroom and everything happening behind the scenes keeping the club running smoothly. It’s our team that makes it all happen.

Their energy, passion, and commitment create the experience our members know and love every single day ✨

🌟Team Member of the Month🌟

A huge congratulations to Michaela, our Team Member of the Month for March here at Newhaven 🙌🏼

Michaela consistently receives amazing feedback, and our members absolutely love her. Her positive attitude and willingness to help across all areas of the club make a big difference every day.

Alongside her role as a receptionist she is our Do Good Champion. As part of this, Michaela organised our partnership with Children First for the Easter egg donation, which was an incredible success... the largest donation they’ve ever received! 🐣🍫
