🤍 “I’m due next week… do you have any availability?”

It’s one of the messages I receive most often.

“We’re expecting our baby in a few days... we’ve realised we’d really love some extra support. Can you help?”

And whilst I’ll always do my best to help where I can, the reality is that many maternity nurses and newborn professionals are booked months in advance.

I completely understand why.

During pregnancy, your focus is naturally on preparing for your baby’s arrival. The nursery, the pram, the hospital bag, the tiny sleepsuits... there’s so much to think about.

But one of the most valuable things you can prepare is your postpartum support.

Whether that’s:

🤍 A maternity nurse

🤍 A birth or postnatal doula

🤍 Infant feeding support

🤍 Overnight newborn care

🤍 Newborn support and gentle sleep guidance

These services aren’t just there for families who are struggling.

They’re there to help you feel confident, supported and able to enjoy those precious early weeks, knowing you have experienced guidance whenever you need it.

After more than 20 years supporting families, I’ve seen the difference that planning ahead can make.

Instead of spending those first sleep-deprived days desperately searching Google or sending last-minute messages, families can simply settle into life with their new baby, knowing they already have someone in their corner.

And that peace of mind is invaluable.

Of course, not every family needs professional support - and that’s absolutely okay.

But if you think you might, I’d encourage you to start the conversation during pregnancy rather than waiting until you’re overwhelmed.

Because asking for support isn’t a sign that you’re expecting things to go wrong.

It’s a way of giving yourself permission to be cared for too.

🤍 Your baby deserves support.

🤍 But so do you.

I’d love to know... did you arrange support before your baby arrived, or did you find yourself wishing you’d organised it sooner?

For those expecting later this year or in early 2027, I would strongly recommend getting in touch as early as possible to discuss availability.

When I became a mum myself, I finally felt what so many of my clients had been telling me for years.

Sleep deprivation hits differently when it’s you.

Nothing could have prepared me for just how exhausted I was after the birth of my children. It was a beautiful, joyful time… but also one of the most physically and emotionally demanding seasons of my life.

My husband and I even made a pact that anything said between 10pm and 6am couldn’t be held against us the next day 🤣😴🤫
(Highly recommend this rule to any new parents!)

Thankfully, because of my many years as a qualified maternity nurse — supporting families and helping little ones learn healthy sleep habits from the very beginning — I had the knowledge and confidence to guide my own babies gently into good sleep.

They started sleeping well from a young age, and the difference it made to our entire family was huge.

We were able to enjoy those early months rather than just survive them.

That experience is exactly why I love what I do even more since becoming a mum.

It’s my mission to support new parents who are exhausted, overwhelmed, and wondering if this phase will ever end.

I want families to know that you don’t have to wish away this precious time because you’re running on empty.

It doesn’t have to be this hard and you don’t have to do it alone.

There has never been a more important time to prioritise sleep (for both you and your baby).

By starting early with good sleep hygiene, realistic expectations, and gentle, responsive methods, babies can learn to sleep well without distress, pressure, or traditional “sleep training.”

No bad habits to undo later — just calm, confident foundations from the start.

If you’re expecting, or navigating those early months with a newborn and craving more rest, I’d love to support you.

✨ Gentle sleep support

✨ Realistic, evidence-based guidance

✨ Tailored to your baby and your family

Because better sleep changes everything.

If this resonates, feel free to comment or message me — I’m always happy to chat 💛
