Hazel spreads the tradition of yoga through welcoming and adaptable classes.

She aims to enrich her students mentally, physically and emotionally by leading holistic classes that help to strengthen the body, calm the mind and uplift the spirit. Like many people, I was drawn to yoga because I wanted to increase flexibility and gain the physical benefits. I quickly realised that this was simply one of the endless ways in which my life would be transformed and enriched by yog

During these dark Winter months in the Northern Hemisphere, many mammals go into hibertation, we see bare tree branches as the energy draws inwards to the tree roots, ready to bloom again in Spring. As human beings, (also an expression of nature, incase you forgot!) we too require more rest, to slow down and bring our energy inwards.

Lets mark the turning of the wheel this Winter by joining together in community to reflect and share a full Hatha Yoga practice

These sessions will be two hours and will include…

🌀A short Satsang (spiritual lecture)
🌀Full body asana practice (physical postures)
🌀Savasana (deep relaxation)
🌀Pranayama (breath work)
🌀Meditation
🌀Guided chanting with the harmonium

My time of sharing community hatha yoga @thesalisburycentre has come to an end. I’ve evolved so much as a teacher and as a human during these 4 years, and I’m so grateful to the centre for allowing me a space to find my voice, and for the friendships and community we have formed.

4 years ago I was planning my yoga sequence move-by-move, synchronised with a thoughtfully crafted playlist, sometimes with only 2 participants in the room. Over time, and with growing confidence, I was able I to put my notebook aside and move intuitively, without much of a plan in my mind, tuning into the energy of the room, turning off the music and moving to the sound of our breath. To find the classes reliably filling up every week, often with the room over capacity…It’s really encouraged me to keep sharing and learning, so thank you. A few times I came to practice after a long day, tired or buzzing, but the energy of the centre, the community, and sharing this ancient Indian practice always brought balance to my being, somehow providing exactly what I needed.

Feels like the end of an era for me, and I know I’m going to look back on this chapter with so much nostalgia in the future. For now I’m leaving the centre with new inspiration, life long friendships and a heart full of gratitude.

Thank you 🙏
