Brighton Place... there's been a bit of chat locally about the Council decision to rebuild the road with the lovely granite setts, a programme which is estimated at taking 60 weeks, with the road closed to through traffic throughout. This will result in diversions to the 21, 42 and 49 buses, likely not serving Portobello at all.
So a big deal if you live in Northfield, Durhams, Magdalene, Duddingston and come down to Porty. Which is causing big concern to High St traders regarding loss of trade.
The community council have information up at http://www.portobellocc.org/pccpn/2018/06/05/brighton-place-sett-reconstruction-update-5-june/ (see the links at bottom of page to extra info - buses and 26 April) and there's a petitions doing the rounds too, online at https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/stop-the-setts and in paper at local shops.

Stop the Setts Under proposals to re-lay the setts in Brighton Place, this main thoroughfare will be closed for 60 weeks and buses re-routed away from Portobello High Street.
